The Howard 21 was an exact splash off the Spectra 20, which is 20'10" long. Howard just made one modle and I believe that they called it a "River Cruiser", Schiada also has a River Cruiser, you could say similar but they are not, everything is different. I believe it was in the early 90's that Howard cut their top deck down (more than likely to look more like the Schiada than the old school "Day Cruisers") No other changes were made the bottoms stayed the same, these were the molds that DCM purchased and was building.

They are cool boats and the Howards were laid up super nice, at least everyone I Have seen has been. My Brother had one and sold to a friend, he converted the outdrive to V drive and its a great cruiser. The one posted looks very original, the cav plate hardware is Nicson equip, the turn buckles are a ball and socket structure so you don't have to turn the plate bosses and funky angles due to the v bottom, they are hard to find, I looked for a long time to find the ones I used for my Spectra. Most Howards i have seen were two stringer boats vs. Spectra's 4 and had belly tanks in them. Cool boat not a rocket unless you change a lot and dump a considerable amount of money, they can be a solid 50mph + rig with decent power.

They didn't all have that bottom. Mine has the 5 degree bottom. I guess I don't have a clue how to post pictures on here. :(

That Howard looks to be in very nice condition. If price is right would make a nice way to get on the water. 74 spectra is on point with his post as if you look at all the daycruisers & (rivercruisers) from that era they all pretty look much the same with some minor differences. I was actually looking for a Howard RC before I purchased my Mr Ed daycruiser. As was said not a speedster but a very nice riding hull.
