I’m curious if scratches can be removed from gel coat? I had a detail shop cut/buff my boat and it looks much better but they claim with fiber glass and Gelcoat there is no way to remove them all? This is a 1993 Lavey Craft Sebring 20.8…

Note:
Some of these were able to be removed but still has some scratches. Just want to know if the above statement is true and also what is a recommendation after I had it cut/buffed to do now - polish/wax?

I had Chris and crew do some gel repair couple years ago. Similar in size to what you have

His brother did an incredible job matching the blue fade on the transom

That’s awesome! I’m not looking to go that route as of yet, but more interested in what is recommended in my above questions - thanks again.

I think the black window will clean up better.
The gouge in the blue no.
The gouge in the white and pink stripe are deep enough to sho the last color on the gel scheme, the blue.
This will also need to be filled/sanded and polished.

The gouge in the blue fade is beyond the typical DIY hobbyist.
The white and pink, “could” be handled by the right hobbyist. With some patients, lol.

I was hoping you would respond lol. I appreciate your thoughts a lot. I’m going to restore this boat as much as possible and just getting an idea of what could possibly be ahead on the exterior for me.

Do you recommend any products for routine maintenance for the gelcoat?
