You will see officers leaving the department to outside agencies, retirements and no recruitment. With in a year I bet the department will be non existent. I hope these officers fine a better place to work. They deserve better.

SEATTLE - Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best is going to resign, two sources familiar with her decision confirmed to Q13's Brandi Kruse. The decision comes after the Seattle City Council voted to slash the department’s budget.

I think they wanted her to resign. She's a black woman and is a Democrat and she was in the national media spotlight telling the county the truth about Seattle and making too much sense. I hope she resigns she'll get another job in a heartbeat.

Seattle police chief announces her retirement after city council votes to cut the police budget by nearly $4 million (and eliminate at least 100 cops)

The Seattle City Council also cut Best’s roughly $285,000 annual salary and the pay of other top police leaders, although the final cuts to Best’s salary were significantly more modest than those approved last week. The council plan also takes officers off a team that removes homeless camps.

On Monday, only Council Member Kshama Sawant voted against the budget package, saying it does not do enough to defund the police.

Best, who served in the department for 28 years, ended her email saying that she looks forward to “seeing how this department moves forward through the process of re-envisioning public safety. I relish the work that will be done by all of you.” HA HA HA HA HA sure, she "relishes" the work the SPD will do as the city "re-envisions public safety." What she's really saying to the cops is "you'd be crazy to stay in the SPD while these Marxists destroy a once beautiful city."
