Looking at buying a truck in Virginia but need it shipped to CA. Dealer wants 1400 from their guy. That sound right? Any RDP people do Auto shipping?

Thanks

Sounds good to me! That's gotta be what? 2,000 miles away? Shipping is about .75-$1.00 a mile.

I think it's 2500 miles. I just don't really have a gauge to go off whether that quote was low or high.

If that's for a covered transport, it's a great deal.

If it's an open transport, it's still a good deal.

Depending on the value of the vehicle, I'd want a covered transport if it's a nice one.

Does sound good. Try shippingguy. Sometimes guys are making half full loads across the country. They'd be happy to toss a vehicle in the trailer to make some extra cash. I've had guys ask to drive a car off into the warehouse and out the ramp door when bringing a load. That's probably how you'd get a smokin deal on uship.

Look at cars on ebay in the same zip code. I think they have a multi quote tool right in the bidding page with reviews and you don't need to bid.

Its a 2005 chevy 2500 if that helps. Id like it to be covered however I don't want to turn it into a 4 thousand dollar transport either lol. Tried U-ship and they are quoting 1700 so 1400 is sounding better and better.

Cross country 1400? All day long. Great price. Only way ur gonna get it cheaper is if a flatbeder has room for a partial. They'd cover their fuel with your load.

That sounds like a great price. I am sure it is on an open transport, but that should be fine for a pickup. I just shipped a car in an enclosed transport from Springfield, MO to LA for $1,300.00 and that isn't near as far, but that was enclosed.
I doubt that you will get a lower price than you have. Sometimes you can save a few bucks if you have the vehicle delivered to the shipping companies yard and you pick it up at this end at their depot. Be sure to look the vehicle over closely before signing for it, top, bottom, all sides, everywhere. One time I had an Excursion shipped here from Virginia and did a quick walk around and thought all was good. It turned out that the had tried to pull it into somewhere that was not tall enough and caved in the front 18" of the top and I wasn't tall enough to see it until I got home and looked at the car from a distance. They did pay for the repairs, but it was a fight.
Good luck.

Hoping to be out of the freight biz Jan 1.

Do tell? Whatever it is I hope it's for the best for you and your family. Competitive business to be in. I'm consulting right now for extra cash but really don't want to run things again.

I paid $600 to have a Harley shipped from Michigan to Yuma. Sounds right to me.

That's a great deal, my HD weighs 7400 lbs and for 1400, it's a home run.

I had my Raysoncraft pulled on it's on trailer from Omaha for $1000. from Ron who ships for Nordic.
Your quote sounds good to me why hassle with other shippers, for a few bucks. Ask them to wrap it or cover it if its exposed, which most likely it will be.
