Stopped in to see Tom Peterson today. Some of you are going to say you've never heard of him or his shop. Tom is one of the few guys left, that still run manual machines, makes their own parts and builds "Kustom" boats. For the most part he does a lot of super high end jet boat stuff, like 100 to 200k builds. He also does v-drives, and some outboard stuff. I know he has a group of customers that use him for service work too. Him and his partner in crime Scott Kornowski have built some amazing projects. Tom used to be with Rex Marine when they were building custom parts, so he's been around for a long time, innovating and building billet and custom parts.

You won't find his shop driving around town. You won't see big sign anywhere. His front door is locked, you won't see boats sitting outside either. He's a one man show, and he's usually booked, but he brings in a couple two/three projects at a time.

I thought I'd give you guys a little peek at what he was working on this week.

Here's the front door. This is all your going to find, lol.

He had three projects in his shop today. An Ultra deck boat that he rigged from scratch. It had a 600CU Chevy in it with a squirter hanging off the back.

Lets start with the hatches in the floor. These are machined out of solid billet, lol. It sticks up above the surface of the floor, as the boat is going to have SeaDeck installed in it, then they will be flush. the hatch lid itself is recessed for SeaDeck also. I need to add that some of the CNC Stuff on this boat was done by Don Mumma Fantasy Rigging. Tom does manual machining and rigging, some items would take way too much work to add all the custom milling to.

Thats a 600cu built by Joey Gross. All the motor plates in the boat were built by Tom and all are one off. Tom Wired and plumbed the entire boat as well. Some of the pieces that are CNC Machined are done by Don Mumma Fantasy Rigging as well.

The pump and the hardware, the detail is ridiculous. He used Calgo dual cable steering so that you could put the swim step right above the pump without cables going up to the pump. Plus is looks cool as hell.

The grab handle/vent is a huge chunk of billet as well.

This boat has a Racepak dash. Tom built the helm himself, and the switch panels. The foot pedal is also hand made. The shifter is was ordered as it's a common piece.

Ok. Here's a Bahner, with original gel. Tom Gutted the boat, re-rigged it. Motor is brand new from JMS Racing Engines. It's EFI. I believe it came complete including headers, I think just the tails had to be made. The owner also did not want a foot throttle, so a Dana Shifter was adapted to a box on the side of the seat. The rub rail was also changed. Arko did the interior in this one as well.

Last but not least was an 18 Rogers hull laid up by Advantage Boats as they have this mold. Kornowski capped the boat as well.

It's in early stages, but you can see the mock up of the pedal, helm and motor plates, etc. Notice the relief for the fuel pump. The owner also wanted a custom sea strainer, this one is about the size of a big coffee mug and was hand built in house. 15 Hours were put into the sea strainer alone.

I’ve had Tom do a few different things for me, he fabbed up all the brackets on my outboard. He’s the best at that stuff. [emoji106]

Tom's work might be the best I've seen...super nice dude also. I'm surprised he let this thread happen..lol He's pretty low keyed company with tons of referrals...and he's bi-lingual...outboards, jets, v-drives and outdrives..
