I bought the Z400 when it first came out (03 I think?) Rode it up and down the street, tore it apart and put long travel on it. Handles great, and comfortable! My daughter needed a new bike, so I "gave" her mine to ride, and bought the YFZ 450 and gave it the same treatment. Handles great, but not the most comfortable bike for long dune rides. Cant talk the daughter into trading me either!

My buddy owns LiveWire whips. They aren't cheap, even with the good-guy discount, but they're tough as hell and pretty bright. He does custom colors and shit like that, lemme know if you need one :thumbsup

TCS stuff doesn't have the price advantage it once did, but it's top-notch stuff. My quad rides like a Caddy, all of my friends with Raptors wish theirs rode so nicely :thumbsup

I really don't have enough self control to own the bike. :bash: I only got it because it was a deal that fell into my lap that was too good to pass up. Will probably be getting rid of it in the next 4-6 months and getting a cruiser of some sort. Been thinking of a Cafe Racer style bike.

DOH! a few more. The old xr600, my primary race bike, a 1980 yz125, and a pciture of a holeshot I made at the nationals last year on the cr250 (1986).

Love old bikes, and old boats. Anything around 1975-1980 seems plenty new to me!

the 125 twiddler is a blast to ride. Did a racestoration this last summer. Nice to pass some kid on a bike older then they are. I also like to tell them my boots are older than them. Old and crafty can be fun.

plus its very light (to me) after racing open bikes for years. Nicest part is its easier on my back and shoulders (and arms and wrists and knees). SHeesh, I have one F$ up body in retrospect :violin:

Really, its fun and has extended my racing years several more possibly (I am taking a break this season after getting run over by a spooked horse, plus cheaper). Its my keeper at this point. If I can sell the Honda cr250 in time for spring I will use the one to make some upgrades on my boat. Its been a tight year and business has been off.

Well, it sounds easier than it is. Always trying to improve as I am just a intermediate local. Wish I had was 40 years younger at this point. That would help a bunch. Watching the Pro' s ride makes me painfully aware of just how molasses slow I really am. Good for the ego. Wish I had stuck with it back in the 70's, but then college paid off for me, and allmost all the guys fater than me bombed. A few did not. For example, Blose, Wharton, and Serano.
On the plus side, whipping a youngster on his new cryzktzookierm 450 24 valve per cyclinder whatmacallit on practice day is still rewarding. Only a few more years and likely I will be 100% jet boating, 0% racing, trail riding and bench racing.
Maybe a v drive. I feel the need for speed.:drool
