That was very cool, thanks for sharing.
I always watched Route 66 as a 15 year old kid.
Loved that 62 Vette.

Isn't that a no wake zone in the beginning? :D Was something on fire in the background at 2:34?

Wow did that bring back some childhood memories, hanging out in the rec room and out by the pool. I always remember the water and the drinking fountain was so cold it would give you brain freeze.😎

Anyone else notice Russell Johnson (professor on Gilligan's Island) and the guy from Adam's Family as well?

I've posted this episode at least one other time in the past and have watched it more times than I remember and have never noticed. I imagine most my attention is focused on the scenery and not so much on the scene itself.

Guess I'll need to watch it one more time! :)

Who knew? They had the Docktagon in 62. Also, the music that played on the day of the Marathon sounded like the theme from Star Trek.

I'm sure everyone knows this one: why is it called "site six"?

Cool footage!

I'm sure it goes without saying but there might be a few that don't know who Robert McCulloch was. Of course he built outboards and more well known, chainsaws (someone still builds them under that name) but he's also the guy that bought the London Bridge and had it moved to Havasu. Lots of history with him, 'Mr. Havasu'.

His 3 cylinder 75hp engines are pretty collectable today.

I'm almost 100% that the hull with the twins is a Stylecraft, built here in Long Beach up on Signal Hill back in the day.

The actress playing Jean, Elizabeth MacRae, was also Gomer Pyle's girlfriend on his show. I think she's still alive?

I lost 2 good friends in a boating accident in 1971, (Craig Lukens and Don Lyon) and landed on that airfield on the island to help the family understand what happened. Boy, things sure have changed. I'm sure I could have purchased land for a few hundred an acre. Boy, hindsight being 20-20!

You can still drive on that old runway. Islander RV dry storage is partially built on, or at least parallel to it.

The Spratts operated the resort from 1950 until 1958.

With all the problems in launch ramps, why not do a make over for Site SIX and at least take some pressure off the others? Can't hurt.

Plant grass they will come? Too many fucking people already!! ;)

check out this video

Looks to be a Glasspar Seafair in the video. We had one we'd take to Catalina on occasion for over night dive trips. '70-73.
