With the new year comes a list of exciting new projects. I am kicking off 2018 with a basic garage renovation at a new to me place in HB. We are moving in a week.... Basically this is a two car garage with a storage attic/loft above. My long term plans for the garage are tbd. I need to move in and really get use to the space a bit. For this project my goals are the following:

- Keep two parking spaces cleanly
- Cabinentry and workspace must be designed efficiently
- Figure out better lighting
- Make Washer / Dryer area easier for my wife to work with
- Short term bikes will be in garage - planning on building them a shed

I have a shop and now a storage loft for seasonal items. Also my wife has more interior storage for her items that she has had in the garage in the past. One curve ball on this place is the laundry is in the garage - since I like hanging out with my wife - thumbs up -but this does make me design some aspects differently.

Here are some before pictures. Floors have some nice epoxy already laid down. There was some cabinets installed in the garage when I bought the house. They looked really nice but once you have had really nice metal garage cabinents it is hard to substitute. So I ripped them out and am starting blank slate. I have left the laundry sink and area as is so I have clean clothes. :D

Nice to hear that they already had epoxy floors........cuz we all know how hard it can be to find a good garage floor guy in Huntington Beach.....lol

This will be interesting to see how creative you will be able to be with a more limited space.......I'm sure it will come out awesome!!

A few more before pictures to give you all some layout ideas. I am bringing my current garage fridge. My shop gets a new fridge and wine unit is going to Havasu. Figure my guests there will use it more than wife and I. Need to conserve space.

Well moved in house. Trying to get settled and working on a bunch of projects. Turns out getting 220v 50amp to garage is going to be a trick. Woke up on day one to this view - I can work around things.

That’s a view, very nice. Wouldn’t mind waking up to that every morning.

It is slow going but coming along. Got the bikes off of the ground. Not sure if this will be their long term home but for now it helps. We are still moving in so a lot of items are queing in the garage still. I was able to get 220v for the wife's car and welder online. Working with Baldhead Cabinets to get the optimal layout and configuration I want this time around. Hard having my tools in storage.

So this is the current back wall layout. I am going with the same color combo as my ones in the desert in case I want to bring them out there ever a some point. My cabinets at my old HB house sold with the garage. I have no idea if the current owner realizes how nice they are but when I was handing over the keys and showing how to use the AV systems I let him know. I have never done a slide out garbage deal in the garage but it works well for the wife in the kitchen so we are going to give it a go. Over bench units are higher and deeper. I prefer more workspace - a lot of their installs I see are 14 inch with a lower clearance. IDK this must be for guys that do not use their workbench or build models on them or something :D . I am pretty excited to get this part of the project kicked off.

Getting a little closer. Hardest part is starting off. About three thousand pounds worth of cabinets.

Finished off the cabinets today. Need to do a lot of electrical, trim and lighting. Along with TV and AV.

Doing this project backwards do to time constraints and work flow. I have been living in the garage and working on some projects. Almost here one year - hard to believe. I will be wrapping up with lighting a little more electrical / outlets / switches and then patch / paint. Will get better pictures at the end. I have been concentrating on making sure my wife’s projects are done. Fish tank came out cool.

So tell me more about these bike racks. It looks like you're able to swing them to the side to provide more room? I have bunch of kids and with that a bunch of bikes. I built a shed for them out of the garage but this would make them more accessible.

They are Steady Rack mounts. They work awesome especially for heavy cruisers. They make different models depending on bike. Well built.
