Very cool.

I would bust out my old board and try it but I would be afraid no one would be around to pick me up off the ground 😂

Cool clips. I have skated more with my kids this last week than I have in 10 years. Feels good. Made a little skate park at the house. I guess that’s the silver lining for me with this.

That’s a cool video, not my style of skating but a nicely crafted production none the less. We do skating a little different out here in the Badlands, I put this piece together last year of a pipe session with some of the crew. I am working on a documentary film about the badlands and it’s contribution to skating with some friends, currently looking for $500k to properly fund the film, Stacy Peralta has agreed to produce it which is pretty rad. If I can’t raise the funds to do it right then we will shift gears and go gorilla/DIY and steal every thing😂

Very cool! Think I still have my pipeline membership somewhere 😂 Brings back memories for sure.
Over 77,000 memberships to the pipeline skatepark were sold. Truly was an epicenter of development in skating, very fortunate to have grown up right in the middle of that whole thing. Badlands scene is still alive and thriving, multiple generations of skaters at this point and a very cool story that needs to be told. I’ve been pushing on several fronts for our local skate scene for the last few years. We got the city to modify the master plan for our local park to include 20,000 sq.ft. Of skatepark expansion. I have no money to build it yet, but I’ve got the land and cities blessing. It will all fall into place.

My grandparents moved to north county from the Bay Area in the mid 80’s, I’d make my folks take me to the ranch to skate when we would visit them. North county had a rad scene, lots of ramps everywhere. I agree with you 100% that skating had a major influence on my path in life, at this stage my big trick is called not eating shit LOL. However I find myself in a position to promote and share this activity with the next generation and that’s what I’m doing.

At Christmas time this year, our crew raised some money and put ona board building event with some local at risk youth. We gave out 57 boards and helmets. The kids got to pick all there components and we helped them assemble the boards. My thought was that if putting a board in one of those kids lights the fire, it was all worth it.

About 4 years ago I broke my elbow in havasu skating with my sons. I hung up the board. Ha. It wasn't the lack of skill, it was the added weight when I fell. Ha. By the way I waiting for the doc here in encinitas when we got home

You don’t stop skating because you get old, you stop skating because you get fat. I wear helmet, knee/elbow pads and some badass wrist guards. Dropped 40lbs and that made a huge difference, still not light on my feet, but getting the touch back slowly. Fuck that getting old and fat bullshit, the good life ain’t so good after all as it turns out. One thing I have realized is that concrete is just as hard as it ever was, I ate shit when I had the extra weight on and landed like a sack of concrete, buncha kids came over to me and we’re all like “ hey mister are you okay” as I was laying on the concrete wonderI got why I was doing this to myself 😂

Falling seems to hurt A LOT more when you’re older. 😆
About 5 years ago I was riding my board with the kids ( I hadn’t riden it in years). Decided to jump of the curb. When I landed, the board stopped and I didn’t. I got up after a minute of laying thinking the same thing. Lumbered back to house and cleaned the little road rash on my knee.

Smart move wearing the helmet and pads. Responsibilities don’t take a break cause you did.

It took 6 months of rolling around and then things started to change, my mind was still on point but my body was not in sync yet. When I did my fat boy slam, it was me thinking everything was good and my body not being able to do what my mind was telling it. I know some pretty fat dudes who rip, they have just always skated and kept the mind and body in sync. My muscle memory and mental process is from when I was much lighter, I’ve found that dropping body fat has helped things sync back up.
It’s pretty cool seeing old guys at the skate parks, we’re all like, be careful, gotta go to work on monday and at the same time saying don’t be a pussy to each other LOL

One of my favorite trips was during the summer drought after the earthquakes in 94 , so summer of 95 Northridge pool skating. My friends in SB all came down with Olheiser and me for a birthday trip. Johnny O and Mike Taylor from the Powell park, Kretsky and Frank Atwater met up with us as well.

There were hundreds of pools that were drained and abandoned at homes/hotels/apts all over the valley. Was a ton of fun to just go explore, clean up some random little kidney bean at an abandoned house to be the first people to ever skate it....after a few months there was a list of sorts with addresses of real good pools to skate, the ones with easily avoidable damage and perfect transitions, bonus that they only needed light cleaning since they were already being skated.

Over an epic weekend trip we skated Baldy pipe, Hardrock hotel Olympic pool..man that fucker was massive! 3 Apt pools, 3 private home pools. While we were hitting up a very cool rumored "Ladyfinger Kidney" with a bad ass deathbox Alba rolled in with his crew, much fun was had doing birthday deathgrinds, Alba and co even came back to run a second round of Baldy with us! Fucking good times!

Need to get back on my board....been a long ass time.

Time to break out the long board and hit the cajon pass.

I have been riding the trail by my house everyday. Uphill sucks downhill is amazing. The trail has a nice gentle downhill for miles. Little to no kicking for long stretches it's way too much fun.

It’s not gonna ride itself, just take it easy and roll around for a while, like a few weeks. Sweet board BTW, I’ve been messing around with building some decks. Starting with a mid 70’s style oak board, the idea is to explore using this old equipment in search of lost and forgotten fun lines that it will induce. My buddy is bring a press over to the shop and we’re gonna start laying up some decks. Will be cutting some molds on CNC router and playing around with some unique wood species I have been hoarding😂 I have a template for these oak boards and can run them pretty quick if there is a demand. It’s bigger than a Penny board and exact dimensions as OG vert deck I copied.

I skated Oasis Skatepark as a kid. We would go to Del Mar when someone's parents would take us, once in a while we would go north to the LA spots. We used to go to a place in National City too I think, called Movin On or something like that. Great times. Remember playing that High Ball game as a kid too on the trampoline, lot of fun you can't have now.

Whiteworks, you guys were the inspiration for me moving to California the instant I could. I bought my first car (S10 truck) and 3 weeks later was standing in the sand at Venice Beach. That summer vacation is still going strong 35 years later!

Here's a few oldies that survived and the current.

Anybody remember the "fruit bowl" in Garden Grove off the 22? Old mental hosp or something, I remember when team Hobie showed and us locals had to show'em how it's done. 1977, jeez i'm old.

Worked with both Alan and Ed Economy back in our high school days. These guys moved on eventually managing the old Paramount Skate Park in the late 70's early 80's. I still see Ed occasionally he's a fixture at the Fairplex selling VW parts...
