....After learning to shoot prone, after learning to focus on the scope for hours, after learning to feel and slow his pulse...above all else, after becoming the best person he can be...mind and spirit. Those guys are on a whole different level of focus. American Badass stuff right there.

My dad is a country boy.
In boot on the gun range he was an x ring shooter with everything.
Except a B A R. Couldn't even hit the target. Everybody gave him s*** that he couldn't shoot a real man's gun.
He told them to let him know how they liked that real man's gun on a 25 mile hike.

For civilians I think it's called, "Long Range Shooting Class".

Get a nice old Mosin, and take him out to a 1000yd range. Let him get a feel for windage, elevation and spin drift. Take several different types and manufacturers of ammo, to see the differences. I always thought the Mosin Nagant was great to test the waters for range. Not in it a bunch of money, but will have some reach. If the interest is still there, then bump up to heavy barrels and high dollar optics.
