With my brother in law. We had a non traditional meal as my sister and son were out of town.

We had tri-tip, potatoes, corn, hawaiian rolls and I made some good kidney beans from dry. Follow it up with pumpkin pie to make it official.

As we were walking around I caught view of Xena in the window. Thats strange as I had her in her kennel.

I head to the house and she is running side to side crouching. She had no idea what to do.

Seems she broke out of the kennel and ate the tri tip, potatoes and rolls. There wasnt even a mess...she knew she did wrong but my fault for allowing it to happen. No more food on the counters like that.

Dammit!!!!

No tri tip sandwiches over the next few days ;(

As we ate our pumpkin pie all we could do was laugh about it

That will be my memory of this TG. How about you?

I hope Xena's alright...that's enough to choke an elephant.

Wife is sick, so supper is mostly on me. Throughout the day, had all the kids help. That by itself is really more an accomplishment than anything, and a milestone in some ways hard to convey.

Nothing going as planned, but nothing going wrong. Pretty good deal when you think about it ;)

Need a Impact crate. My Dog broke out of every one until I spent the money on a impact.

She is fine and snoozing hard right now. She knows what she did was wrong. Her energy went off the charts for a bit though.

Hope its just a 24h bug deal for the wife.

At least you don't have to clean up....lol. Give her a cookie for helping out.

It's thanksgiving for everyone

When I lived in Mammoth as a kid I worked sometimes at World Cup Coffee Company...which was owned by some friends Brian and Holly right next door to the police station....my job was cleaning up and walking their dog (Rossi, short for Rossignal). Awesome yellow lab.

They were open on Thanksgiving morning.....Brian was teaching skiing on the mountain and Holly was running the shop so I got called in to open up and get things going...she showed up after putting a 22lb bird in the oven. As soon as she got there, I went home and put our bird in the oven (my mom was working too)....Rossi stayed home.....you might see where this going.

I get a call at about 4pm after Holly closed up and went home asking if we had extra food....I guess Rossi pawed the oven open, drug the turkey out and ate the whole fucking thing.

Brian and Holly brought pie

Yeah. Was worried my Dog would get hurt breaking through them. This one She doesn't even try and goes right in. It was like $1200 though.
Ya...I would need a 2xl to allow for further growth. They are def pricy and I would be somewhere around that before the discount in effect. They do look to be about the best you can buy though.

My Tuco was a naughty boy today also. On top of this story he chased a little girl riding on a scooter.

960 fucking dollars? Good lord
My Dog destroyed 3 before I bought 1. Like $450 of scrap wire. Some of the Malinois owners at Dog training used Gunner and another local brand. They would do group buya and pick up a truck full around $800.

I just woke up and thought about this a bit. It wasnt my fault and I will continue to use my kitchen counters for food or whatever I want. I will be putting some time into working on this problem with her and she will learn to control herself better.

She has a couple of habits that need some attention to correct and I will. A few of them I had to deal with concerning Phx and we got there over time.

Maybe I will put an entire turkey on the counter today to start her training. Lol

Having any puppy takes time and effort. I will put the amount required to get her straight.

Carry on

When I was young all my buddies and I drove up to mammoth to ski, my best bud brought the gal he would eventually marry, I was thanksgiving, and she had cooked and brought a turkey with her. Quite a few stories with this trip but one of them was my other best buddy and i went to the bar, on the way home we found a dog out in the snow so we brought it home with us, we were pretty drunk so we thought we should have some of the uncut turkey, ate passed out. Next morning I hear all this ruckus, well the dog ate the whole turkey and then shit all over this 3 story condo, safe to say I wasn't best man at the wedding a few years later.

By the way....I actually loves those crates posted earlier. I don't think I have an impossible task going forward as this is her first time "breaking out" of the kennel. If it becomes a common occurrence (I doubt it will) I would purchase one. If I did buy one it would be the collapsible one. I will be taking 1-2 of the pups with me when I head out next year for a apx 2 month road trip to Sturgis again and will need a secure kennel while out and about. Thanks for posting that info as I had never heard of them before.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I am hoping this is a one time deal but we shall see. She is an amazingly strong pup and will only get stronger but its up to me to channel her "super powers" into a positive direction.....lol

lol.....Yes she is but sssshhhhhhh....I want her to instill fear to strangers :)

You can not believe how much she has grown since you saw her. I see it and am with her everyday which isn't normally the case.

She is still jumping up and takes the knee into the chest like its play time it seems. For now that is the one habit that needs to change pronto and I am working on it.

Right now Phx and Xena are outside chasing the deers away from the property...lol

How is Mr Charlie doing?

Still working on the barking at golf carts and bigger dogs or any other dogs for that matter. there is another little guy here at the rv park that he likes and they play but still barks when he sees him, so maybe its a greeting lol. A dog trainer at Petsmart got me started on Leave it command and then reward him with a little treat when he stops. Its working most of the time so we will see. Had to buy a little treat pouch to take when we walk. Hard headed little shit.

Please tell me you aren't wearing a fanny pack....lol

Its a process and Charlie is a good pup and will learn with consistency.

If you are in the Scottsdale/Cave Creek area I know a dog trainer/facility that works with the owner and other pups. Its a 6 week group session meeting once a week and did wonders for Phx. If interested PM me and I will give you some details on it. Not cheap but well worth it. I never used any training by a third party before but needed some extra help with her and it worked.

LOL... Counter surfing can be a popular sport. Doesnt take much to train it out of them though.

My last lab pulled down a whole loaf of bread when she was about 6 months old. The poor dog looked like a sausage, LOL. Pooped a lot the next day. 🤣🤣🤣

Well it could be but I just clip onto my pocket or belt. If I used the belt that came with it it could be construed as a fanny pack, but not ready to hand in my man card yet.

That can be dangerous for the pup....lol

A buddy of mine had a 4th July party at his house. We were all getting pretty wild and all of a sudden they grabbed their Beagle and ran him to an emergency vet.

His father brought over a huge batch of weed brownies. While everybody was partying the Beagle ate all the brownies....he was tripping out like it was acid or something like that. The weed combined with the chocolate almost killed that Beagle. He was fine after staying the night and I think they had to flush him out some way.......since he lived thru it all it became a funny story as time went on. At the time it was pretty serious though

Caught our dog standing on the dining table looking like a goat on a mountain top munching out. This was like day two of owning her. I threw a total shitfit tantrum on her. She's never done that again😁 but has snatched a couple things left too close to the counter edge if we aren't home.
.
We too had a non-traditional Thanksgiving meal yesterday. Couple of juicy steaks, cut up a sweet potato to make fries, salad & finished with some apple pie. All nicely lubricated with a margarita(mrs) and a vodka drink for me. 👌

Sebastian (now 10) has a crate but we never close the door , the crate is his "safe place" where he sleeps at nite . Durning the day he has free run of the house even when were away . He has never damaged or chewed anything and he doesnt play with his toys while were gone . As for food "out" he sniffs around the counters and butcher block occasionally but doesnt steal I guess were just fortunate . He is however still "adjusting" to the Kitty they have peaceful coexistence

Sebastian knows the deal and is mature age wise....I imagine he gets treated very well so why cause any problems. Mine is a 6 month puppy....lol

I have a Chessie that bent up two of the wire crates, I went with one of these a year ago and have had great results.

I just checked it out....That seems pretty cool with a lot of flexible use. Price seems good as well. Really like the top side opening and the capability of that side door with the feeder on it and how you can rotate it. Pretty good design I would say

Did yours come with the bowls?

Might just order one today as its on sale for $159.......

EDIT.....You have to be a prime member for that price. I am not....might join and cancel in a week or so to get this deal.

Thanks

Yes when He was that age we monitored Him and kept him in his crate when we left , Labs chew EVERYTHING especially when they're Pups still to this day if left to his own He'll start to destroy a squeeky toy unless monitored , when he gets carried away we'll take it away for a while , then he gets butt hurt and pouts He's like a kid too acting out since the introduction to Kittys suspect hes jealous ....

Is he afraid? Lol
Thats a feral kitty we "adopted" here at the ranch after years of not having cats (Coyotes would get them) , we started seeing more rodents in our pastures and the "arrangement" became symbiotic . Its taken 8 + months to get those two acclimated and shes a fierce bitch when it comes to the big brown guy so yes Hes intimidated . Shes a Russian Kurilin Bobtail all 5lbs, Her Kittens all outweigh her ..... good news is she scores Gophers and such daily

My wife brought home a middle aged yellow lab from a rescue place a while back. Worst counter surfer ever, but that is something you don't learn about until you get them home I guess. With the first week that dog grabbed an entire loaf of sandwich bread and ate it all including the plastic wrapper. Didn't leave a single crumb or shred of plastic. One minute it was there, and while putting the groceries away in the pantry the dog grabbed it and ran. Didn't notice for about 30 minutes. We monitored the dog and she never showed any ill effects.
