I was never talking about limiting subjects or getting rid of off topic things..

One of the key reason RDP is a successful forum when all the other forums died is there is xyz forum and if you talk about something other than xyz than it gets deleted.. RDP is a boating forum... but we are all boaters, and I don't much give a shit what we talk about because we are all boaters.. LOL

I was talking about possibly injecting more boating content into the forums themselves. Not taking anything away.

RD

Funny you say that, I think the people that are the most negative on here are the none boaters. I could be wrong but the negative inmates don't seem to ever post about boating, SXS or camping stuff. Or maybe I miss the post's because I try to ignore the negative inmates., but yes it has gotten negative on here. Much more so over the years. Not just the COVID year. I try to avoid it but it sucks you in sometimes.

As for the front page, I check it out once in a while, mostly when you post up about an article in the lounge. But most of the write ups are about hardware that I cannot afford so it just makes me depressed. LOL J/K

But maybe adding some write ups about boats that the average guy can afford would be cool.

Just my 2cents.

Wasnt trying to be insulting, quite the opposite. I find it fascinating the different takes people habe on things. Kind of like a diamond, everyone is looking at the same thing, but through different facets depending on which side your on of the stone.

Laughing when I wrote it, I thought it a nice response. 👍

Maybe I should throw together a thread tonight with all the Videos the wife and I took this summer. Maybe even throw in a few good pics here and there. I know I posted a bunch in my "boating content" thread but there is alot that I never posted. If nothing else its something to watch to break up the monatany of all the negativity..🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

So I'm talking to all my buddies, about a variety of subjects, but in this case we were talking about RDP. A couple of them mentioned the negativity in here lately, and unfortunately I have to agree with them on that front. It does seem like people want to say negative shit when it's not necessary? I almost tapped the subject when I was down in Mexico having a blast in paradise, and a couple members made comments that were just mind blowing to me..

Much like our new WH press secretary though we can circle back to that. They said something that really caught me off guard.. They said "Dave you need more boating content."

:oops::oops::oops::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Now here's my response to that... "What the F do you mean we need more boating content?? I got boating content coming out of my ears? I spend a wad that would choke an elephant every single month on boating content, just to make sure we have high quality boating content while I'm kinda down for the count with this ankle bullshit?"

It occurred to me that some of my friends literally just come to the forums and don't ping the front page on their way in.. You guys know we put boating articles up literally daily right? The same guy that headed up PowerBoat Magazine and did all their boat tests etc... Is the guy that is putting up the majority of them. We also have a girl in Florida writing articles non stop on East Coast stuff, and Bryner and Tommy jumping in every chance I can get them for extra content.

Are you guys (yes all of you in the forums) checking on the front page and reading all this stuff?

Quick Recap of Billy's Pirates shows overall - https://www.riverdavesplace.com/forums/articles/river-rocket-meet-up-–-pirate-cove-2013.783/

Excellent Article on restoring Gel Coat - https://www.riverdavesplace.com/forums/articles/diy-gelcoat-restoration-made-easy.772/

There's interviews with Billy B from awhile back
Jets that Tom Papp would've approved of
Nice article on Irvine Lake and Dave Moyes

And even stuff about Nortech..

I'm kinda immune to it because I am seeing a ton of "Boating Content" every single day as I'm the one kinda overseeing all this stuff... Are you guys seeing it?

RD
PS Dave. I’m back.

I deleted it. Almost everything I said was stuff I've already posted. Sometimes I make myself wanna barf just thinking of what I've said many times before.

I met Bruce a handful of times but had a friend that I think (?) was dating his daughter or knew her...something like that. He told me that Nescher had taken one of his molds and made a pond with it in his backyard. lol This was almost 40 years ago and I wish I had seen it.

I've actually been thinking about putting together a jet after I sell the Spectra. Wife wants a pontoon and I want something to fuck around with, maybe take it out early mornings on the strip. Something old from the 60's and probably an old Tahiti, old habits die hard ya know.
Of course I've sold or given away 99% of my jet parts but they're pretty common now.

And for what it's worth, I don't give two shits what others think of jet drives.

Neither do I.. my comment to "Jet Haters" is "come on up with your prop and fallow me!"

I have yet to have any takers🤷🏻‍♂️ not sure why🤔

Yep my boat is "very inefficient" drive wise.. "until, its not!" Shit gets skinny in a hurry.. but I can guarantee we see better water and scenery then most!🤪

Same here regarding Jets. Met Bruce in 1976. Ordered 23’ Executive 460 Ford Jacuzzi Jet. He delivered that boat as ordered and ahead of schedule 7 weeks. $7500.00 Out the door.Enjoyed that boat for many years.1989 came across 1979 Sleek 23’ Executive. Bruce built the boat for Chevrolet Dealer in LA. Twin 454s Panther Jets. We still have that boat, never sell.

I don’t think making a “classic boat thread” was a good move for boat content....... just saying, wish it was left alone along with a Howard thread area being added..... What’s cool in boating “today” isn’t appealing to me at all. Kind of like lifting a truck on 24s with pizza cutters...... but to each his own....

Back in the same era we did maybe 6-8 25s at Hawaiian with dual BBC and dual Berks. Half of them went to a 3rd world country to patrol rivers. We made special mounts and reinforcements in the deck for 50 cal machine guns to added later. There was nothing in the boat except for engines and gas tanks.
The first one dad rigged, the intakes were much closer together than your pumps and the engines staggered one in front of the other, forward one had a long driveshaft. Dad and Schuster took that 1st one out for a test drive and as Schuster threw it in a turn (maybe dad was driving and threw Schuster across the boat, I can't remember now) one pump went dry and they violently spun out, throwing dad across the boat and into the gunnel. I don't remember if they rigged the ones to follow the same, figured out a better location, or called in someone with more experience with dual jets.

1970's, we couldn't build jets fast enough. Seemingly everyone had a lifted 4X4 with a jet hooked to the hitch on Rice road.

Perfect the way it is.
I'm here for the community part with a dash of boating content. Somehow, RD's moderating style and well rounded content has brought together a grip of interesting, self made, "work hard, play hard" people. With that comes the occasional outspoken verbal bashings that thin out the whiny bitches pretty quick.

Carry on as you were, this is still the best site on the internet. Well, except PornHub.

Ya ever forget to delete and the wife sits down, clicks the computer outta sleep mode and it opens up to that final, close up scene where a chick has her legs spread and a load dripping out?
I did.

You are right, since I sold my boat I've found myself on the Doom & Gloom & Political forums instead in the meat & potatoes of boats & boating life. I'm going after a pickle fork by Summer & I'm sure my attitude will change for the better immediately.

Good well rounded selection, have you considered a 45' Fly Bridge Sports Fisher, or perhaps large sail boat ? 😁

Yes I have :)

Instead of that I went the sell the home, be 100% debt free, bought a big toy hauler 5th wheel, added tons of solar/batteries for off grid use, a RAM Dually and hitting the road with my pups and Harley to travel around the USA. This is a dream of mine and I am going to live it :)

Phone rang, I saw it was RD and it flashed in my mind maybe Dave will be shooting me a pin to hook up the trailer, grab the tow straps and head to the desert for someone is broke down.

RD never turns down anyone asking a favor.

No, that wasn't it. It was a different favor RD was doing for someone. I hope that worked out ok. I wasn't able to help.

Night before it was a RDP lurker that called me direct and asked a favor.
He only had a short time to live and wanted a last Jameson.

I go straight to View New Posts.

I basically never see the front page.

So to answer your question, unless you put a link in the forums, to your front page stuff...

Nope, not seeing it!

Same but only about once a week.

One thing I will say is the grumpy people syndrome is running rampant everywhere.
While I'd like the brotherhood to exist here like it did in 2007, I do realize those days are gone however aside from that Buzz Bomb boating site Scream and Die this is the only other boating website that actually has boating content. 😁

Long story short many of us @ RDP remember the situation years ago where a RDP member was sentenced to i believe 20 years Prison for the worst crime a man could commit involving his family.
Many of us also remember Tom (DILLIGAF) cutting a check for $150k to purchase that guys boat so his family could survive. To my knowledge Tom never talked much about that deal he just wrote the check and helped that guys family thru a lousy situation.Gotta say, sure was a nice boat. The guy still in jail today had the ability to build incredible motors and rigging,But he fucked up big time.

he’s joking.. mostly. :D

Nahh RD I’ve never known you to turn anyone down.
Even hand the keys to your truck & flatbed to a total stranger in the middle of the desert to get his disabled RZR, wife and friends home.

I remember a lot those times you've helped people out RD. You forget - there's been so many times and you're quick to do it too. Most often your idea to lend a hand.
I always tell people you’re the most unselfish person I’ve known.
