Great article in the Wall Street Journal regarding the effects of the President’s tax reform.

Can’t paste the link but I’m sure you can find it if you are interested.

“Texas ranks among the states with the highest share of taxpayers who pay more than $10,000 in property taxes, according to the National Association of Home Builders.”

Without a breakdown on the properties, the statement is meaningless. Ranches, large homes, investment properties would makeup taxes of that magnitude.

This topic was recently discussed and it was easily shown the costs of living in TX vs CA varied and bang for the buck was far greater in TX.

But you know all that.......

We paid over $30k in CA income taxes.

Property taxes on my 1.5 acre, 3,800 SF house is under a grand a month.

This is easy math, folks.

Hence the reason democrats are having a hard time coming to grips with it.

no matter how easy the math, democrats dont add up.

my $6500 property tax in Texas was far less than my CA income tax and CA property tax combined.

I do. Like 530 said, Trump is turning some red states blue with his policies.

Just because a state is low tax doesn’t mean it’s low cost, but you know that.

I'm staying , my roots are here, my kids are here , my business is here. I haven't given up yet.
until they make it completely unbearable , for a small business to operate. they are getting close to it.
hoping one day, both parties will work together, for the better of its citizens, not just one group.

Lol oh Rod. Explain how lower overall taxes cost me more would you?

Let’s not pretend to be obtuse here. The total taxes in Texas, Arizona, and most every other state are lower than CA. Yes an individual tax may be more, but no one lives in a state and only pays one tax.

What if I’m a renter in Texas?? That is a huge tax burden lifted from someone that lives in CA.

Taxes are just one cost of living in a particular state. Some low tax states have much higher costs for maintenance, utilities, insurance etc. Take a good look at homeowners insurance in south Florida.

South Florida is not a state. That is a particular region prone to damage because for the last 50 years people have built houses in a swamp.

Take a look at homeowners insurance in North Florida where it is not a swamp.

These threads are great at stating the obvious.

CA is a nice place to love, but it’s not for everyone.
Same can be said of AZ, TX, and every other state.

Thank goodness we can choose where we want to live [emoji106]

True, apples and oranges. Kind of like comparing Fullerton and Mission Viejo. :D

That is like comparing a Fuji Apple and a Gala Apple... the cost of living is about the same for both cities and they are in the same county, so subject to nearly identical tax burdens.

If I wanted to go live in Silverado Canyon, my homeowners insurance would be more due to fire risk, that is about it.
