I am amazed that there were no accidents or anyone hurt yesterday on the river above needles, there were hundreds of boats and lake lice on the water zipping back and forth within 10-15 feet of each other, turning in front of each other with no warning, at one point we saw 2 seadoos going up river probably 45mph zigzagging and NOT watching out for other boaters then out of nowhere 2 boats passing them at what appeared to be 80+mph all within feet of each other. (This happened over 3 or 4 DOZEN TIMES) Wife and I were just watching saying THAT IS WHY W DON'T GO ON THE WATER when all these idiots come out to the river. What happened to common sense boat operators.

Definitely heads up driving…I now drive like I’m on my street bike always assuming someone is going to do something stupid.

@PaPaG , that stretch through there has to be one of the narrowest on the river. When I was up that way, we usually headed up river and avoided that on weekends, or went through early. It can be like playing Frogger!

I'll have to say, a lot of it is caused by the occasional weekenders, not the people out there all the time. I think a lot of the new youngsters with lake lice are just idiots, but a lot of the "older" crowd catch themselves daydreaming, looking at the homes there on the water.
I do my daydreaming when I'm out there on empty weekdays, much safer ;)

It’s too bad it has to be that way. No common sense and no situational awareness seems like the norm anymore. It’s like driving across town or traveling on the freeway nobody cares, nobody gives an F and everybody operates their motor vehicles and high powered toys like they’re in a video game with no real consequence and the parents that are putting their kids on these high powered Sea-Doos and such are not helping the problem. It’s sad and unfortunate when someone gets hurt in any of the potential scenarios and while we all don’t want any of that to happen the minute it does the majority is going to blame another and pursue wrongful retribution if or when possible. It just suks.

20 years ago I checked out Parker in my new 23' runabout.... I went out real early just to see top end speed on it before anybody was up, left the gal in between the sheets resting. So I'm going down the middle at 60ish and I see a watercraft coming at me fast.... cant tell yet what it is but it is moving fast from spray so I quickly react thinking he may not know which way to break so I throttle back and head to right bank... it was a 10 year old kid doing 70 in a seadoo. That was enough for me... ocean boating since then. I love hearing about you river rats on this site but man am I surprised you guys don't have more accidents.

Shit I had shit heads in my slip at the marina
10 years ago I got out to my place in Needles and there was a truck parked in my carport. Ok, whatever, I'll find out who's and have them move. Come in, open up the blinds, and there's a boat tied at my dock...
Different people, but both said , "well, you aren't out here very often"

Respect has been on the decline in the US for quite some time...

I agree! I came out late on a Friday night to 8 cars parked in my driveway. I wedged my truck right in the middle of two of them when the drunk fucks at the party next door came out and said “Hey who are you??” I said “I’m the mother fucker who owns this house and you have five minutes to move your shit or they are all getting towed!!!”

I would not have even waited, I would have towed them as quick as possible just to fuck up their night due to their lack of respect for other folks property. I hate disrespectful people.

After dealing with all the donkeys yesterday, I asked my wife “maybe boating isn’t for us”.
We came back from the mouth of the river towards the channel and I looked to my wife and said “that wasn’t even fun. I’m done boating on busy weekends. We can do pool days.” I have a 28’ boat and was getting tossed all over the place.

I am amazed.....

I'm amazed that you're amazed! It's been this way for at least 3 decades now. Do yourself a favor and avoid weekend boating on the river especially during summer. If that's not possible, change jobs or deal with it. There's nothing else you can do.

Daughter wanted to meet at our place in parker for the 4th but when i said thats fine but the boat was staying on the trailer she said never mind . She would come to our house and use the pool . Not worth the b.s. any more . If it was not for the winter time i would probably sell our parker place .

This was Thursday afternoon, no craziness or weekend warriors. The only knuckleheads were a couple of guys in their 60s whipping around on new high hp skis. They drove like turds until they saw me, then they each did a high speed flyby and moved on. Really wasn't bad at all, the weekends are a different story for sure.

There is group of older guys that drive right down the center of the gorge and feel it is there right. I never went again with that group!

Probably was the same group, that's the way they rode, then when they hit devils elbow they kept drifting and cutting infront of boats.

It was a red flag wind day and a busy Saturday. I encourage all of you on here to either boat Friday, if you still need to people watch, or boat Sunday, to hang with those of us on "lake time".

This is what we’ve been doing since the pool got done. Take the boat out weekdays but weekend and especially holiday weekends it’s on the trailer.

Spring and fall dude. Fuck the summer. Once the kids go back to school, you'll be fine. Find another hobby until then. 👍

So, the keys are in the wrecker.
PTO is just below the shift tower.
Pump it twice to start it.
FFS, throw a quart in.
J hooks are in the dolly trays.

Nuff said.

I used to drive my old 1ton dually. It usually had J-hooks in the bed. I found them handy for work, moving dumpsters at jobsites, skids of materials...really useful. At the river, I'd try to be respectful, and ask nicely first. It usually worked well, as people knew they were in the wrong.

Don't even try casino row @ Laughlin/Bullhead. It's like the 405 fwy at 5 o'clock.
Yes a 21' jet bötè at speed, will stop in about 2 boat lengths, if needed. Yes I've tested that. A hundred foot rooster, about 4' high, keeps the lake lice back sufficiently.

Not the river or havasu but was at LOTO this weekend. Running back to PBC about 80 Portion of the lake is like as wide as say in front of the riviera. Not really wide but not super tight like the river. sea do cutting across the lake at full tilt two people on it coming at us at a 90 degree angle. Kelly (the captain) starts mother Fuckin and cutting back throttles, more more more can’t really shoot to the rear of them because we had people on our port. They cut right in front of us. Kelly stops the boat and is FIRED UP! Screaming at them to come back. Ever see the Tom and Jerry episode where they’re on the ship hunting for Dickey Moe (mobey dick) and the captain is bright red and yelling but you can’t understand him he’s so pissed off….that was Kelly. Lol.

He’s screaming for these guys to come to the boat. Takes a minute but to my surprise they head our way. Looks like kids Two males. As they get close I see they’re 19-22 ish. I told Kelly I’d handle it. Once he saw they were young but the respect for them to come to the boat calmed him down a bit but he’s still hard to understand with a southern draw and especially pissed off.

We Told the kids hey gotta be careful keep head on swivel look for boats when crossing. Said it would’ve been a bad day for us running them over but it would’ve ended them. They said yes sir, we’re sorry sir. Thank you sir. Suuuuuuuper nice kids. Raised right. It’s nice to see there’s still good kids, good people in the world. Sometimes you just have to get out of California and Arizona to see it. You don’t always have to but Mid west people some nice folks. These were good kids.

I stated I was amazed that there were no accidents not how busy it was, We NEVER EVER go on the water on any busy weekend, we only go boating Mon - Thur, sometimes on Fridays it is earlier in the am and off the water by 11am, maybe at times on a Sunday mid day after most of the crowd leaves and have done that for 20 years. We viewed all the IDIOTS just sitting on our patio.

@PaPaG I tried to buzz the tower but you put that mooring ball by your docks… haha

It was bad this on Sunday. I have to dice in and out of boats. So many kids on wakeboards, wake surfing and tubes. With the amount of traffic I can’t believe people tow kids behind…
My son wanted to go on the raft so bad. But after seeing a couple closes calls of kids that fell he said nvm Dad we will doit another time.

Next time you boat by make sure to float out in front for a few so we can spot you and come out and say hello if we are not out and about....

I usually do. Pass by your house go to the park just past the Anderson house turn boat off and float back. I usually see if there’s any actively at your house when we pass. Haven’t seen much. But I’ll be sure to stop in if you are ever around.
Always pass by and think to myself dam what I would do to have a house on the water with a ramp! Ha

We stayed in The Keys I think it was called.... cool lil channel that had a boutique 2 story motel with maybe 6 rooms... loved the front dock for leaving boat overnight... I'll never forget a sweet big block go fast idling in by us at around 2 am playing a MnM toon pretty loud; the lerics said "Get more ass than a toilet seat" I laughed so hard and we got out of bed to look... guy was going by with a stripper pole mounted in boat and everyone on board having a blast. I went out and bought that cd on way home. Great lil motel there.
