Spectrabrent I thank you greatly for your posts of vintage Spectra ads and articles.

I am blessed to have experienced 20 and 32 Spectras in my family. Mid 1970s my dad built a 20 with a George Stregal built blown BBC for ski racing at Lake Arrowhead. My younger brother and me, as well as many other skiers were the beneficiaries of that set up.

Fast forward to late 1980s when dad and I teamed up on a 32 Spectra hull that we had cleaned up and regelled. Performed a complete installation of new drivetrain and upholstery and that 32 took care of our family for 30 years on Lake Mead. Awesome boat. Priceless memories.

Hi Brent,

I can, but the rest are not Spectra specific. There is a mint mid '70s Harman Marine catalog, the docs (sales, installation and service) supporting the Berkley drive, and a few other similar pages.

Supposedly this is the last XS ever made. Bill bought it as a blank, had Rex Marine do all the rigging and Richard Lee built a big(for the time anyway) 496 TT for it. Pic is In I believe 82 when it was delivered to Austin Texas.

Sure I'll see if I have a few more. That's me in the little foam boat. The bottom of the boat was blue printed and graphited before they took delivery. I don't remember the connection but somehow Bill got Rudy Ramos to get the bottom right before he brought it back to Texas. It took a few years to get the motor lined out(Parnelli Jones ended up helping with it) but after that it ran like champ. It ran a menkins 3 blade with a 1.25 gear and it would pull to around 5700-5800 on av gas, what that equates to in speed I can only comment that it was despised by all the local jet boaters at the time. It came with a Don Zigg Magneto which went out when I was in high school and they put an MSD on it. Other than that it was pretty much how it came from Richard Lee. The motor was very tired in the video and ended up finally letting go not long after it was taken.

Any pics of the rigging, motor rails, Vdrive etc.
I see the cav plates are on a hinge, you dont see many 24’s with the plates under the hull.
