It was a memorable day in Tampa Bay.
I was lucky enough to be in a helo to shoot this run.
The wind had been whipping through the Gulf for days and the water in Tampa Bay was rather nasty, to say the least.
It looked like 4-6's from the air, but I'll bet that stuff felt bigger in a boat.
The first shot sums up the day-
Mercedes-Benz, Aqua Mania and Pure Platinum all coming to the same conclusion at the same time: F@#K THIS!!!
You can see how far into the gulf it took them to reach the U-turn conclusion.
Eighty boats were registered in the run, only EIGHT made it to the lunch stop.
My pilot was fighting the wind all day- trying to hold position and could not turn into the wind-
we had to go the long way around every time, and couldn't go too low for obvious reasons.
Quite a memorable day, especially for the 8 rough riders that managed to make it to the lunch stop!
