Big deal. The website replicated a site that displays votes received, and has nothing to do with the actual vote counting.

In a statement regarding the event, the National Association of Secretaries of State said it is "ready to work with civic-minded members of the DEFCON community wanting to become part of a proactive team effort to secure our elections." But the organization expressed skepticism over the hackers' abilities to access the actual state websites.

"It would be extremely difficult to replicate these systems since many states utilize unique networks and custom-built databases with new and updated security protocols," it read. "While it is undeniable websites are vulnerable to hackers, election night reporting websites are only used to publish preliminary, unofficial results for the public and the media. The sites are not connected to vote counting equipment and could never change actual election results."'

Yep completely agree. This is a non story.

It may be a replica of the website, but not a replica of the security schema used, replication used, etc.

To your point Faceaz, I am certain these things are not as secure as they should be. But they are not as insecure as the article wants you to believe.

Uhh never did because we don't, we live in a constitutional republic. As far as the vote change goes we need to firm up all aspects of our voting system. I believe there shouldn't be any electronic voting or transfer of vote tallies. The thing that really interesting is that all the people that are howling about Russia meddling and we need to ensure integrity of our elections are the same who cry racism when voter ID is brought up.

Anyone even vaguely familiar with software or website construction knows that nothing online is actually secure.

If you read the complete article it mentioned that the "replica" sites were made harder to hack than the real ones.

This should be no surprise to anyone however, this is how they populate their "anti-hacking" divisions. It's a good thing.

Doesn't matter. The websites report vote tallies, information only. They are not connected in any way to the actual votes being made.

Demand voter ID and Paper Ballots!

Oh wait, the left is against that, Soros owns a huge stake in one of the electronic voting machine companies. He's not the only highly political oligarch that does either.
