I am far from a pro in this crazy field. Last wifey bought $$ in stock, hey Covid dip, deals to be had. One was a scam, we and many others took a hit. Well I told her when she was at the end of buying spree to jump into Avis Budget. Much of my PI business is in rental car industry, they were solid $60 stock, trading at a low of $8.92 last year. Sooooooooooooooo 1 year later it hits $80, then a few weeks ago $140. She actually bought 1,000 shares, I thought she had jumped in deep at 10,000 shares at $11. OK, her thing.

We had to sell 600 of the 1,000 shares three months ago to buy more material for our business, OK, at $75. Pretty good deal I thought.

Now today, Avis Budget announces they are jumping in big to electric cars. OK. In 2 hours the stock opened trading at $142, jumps to $542!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. All in one hour, they announced they will buy a lot of electric cars in 2022.

We sold a bunch. OH, if I had 10,000 shares....... Closed at $357.

Sorry, we purchased 1,000 shares. Sold 600, as of today had 400, or about 200G at 9 am today from $4,800 in June 2020. No baby Lambo, will use for the two Italy trips next year and taxes!

And $130 + in Hawaii, so think of this, u add 1,000 electric fleet in Hawaii, very few miles on them, zero oil changes etc., profits$$. Industry is changing, money to be made.

I went in pretty heavy on JNJ stock a few years ago, before this whole vaccine craze, you would think I would be sitting pretty, things look decent but nothing spectacular like your situation.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Electric cars have horrible resale, but they will be charging everyone for range they consume.

100% correct. Talked to a Ford guy at cars and coffee about the electric stang. This guy told me you don’t want to buy one, just treat it as a large cell phone and keep trading it in on the next best thing.

I wouldn't get too excited. $CAR got the meme stock treatment today. It will be extremely volatile moving forward.

I’m no genius on this but even guessing it might go to $100 from nine dollars back last year made sense and here is why.


Avis had thousands of off airport site locations where they could do neighborhood rentals budget on the truck division for people to move. Their numbers didn’t look crazy bad so we went through Covid and as we came out of that they sold a bunch of vehicles like everyone for cash. I figured pricing would go up and now recently I knew the stock was going to go pretty big but not this big because when you’re getting $100 a day for a rental car that one year ago you got $40 for you have to be making big money.

So there are a few other factors into the spike but that day it was the announcements of buying electric cars and the earnings were way above what the market predicted.
