Damn.....lolView attachment 1414637 View attachment 1414638 View attachment 1414639 View attachment 1414640 Had trees removed and stumps ground out at my Dads house
chipper and grinder were badass!
My dad (92) is an electronics/radio hoarder. I filled a 40 yard roll off and the scrap metal guys made 8 trips with a stake bed….
and that was just the shit outside!
Getting similar advice from friends. I am looking out the window and I can see 10 that need grinded down and thats just outside the window....lolStump Grinders are loss leaders in the rental business. I’m in the business and, although not on that side of the business, I can see the profitability numbers and they’re terrible. They’re maintenance nightmares and 60% of the rental rate is gone before it leaves the branch on its way to you.
I would rent it and let the rental company absorb the costs rather than owning.
It’s all about the prep. Figure out what stumps you need to grind and then go whole hog and get them all ground the day you rent it.

Thanks....i own a tree company and i have a few vermeer units- 5 chippers and 2 stump grinders. If you dont own a business dont even bother with buying them. They are all a maintenance nightmare and cost a ton of money to repair and maintain.
Your best bet is to rent one. Both PDQ and United rentals rent stump grinders.
In the future i do want to get a dipperfox but they are expensive and have to have equipment to operate the attachment.
The trees here and floor is pretty clean. The neighbors not so much. It is all those Cedar treesThat’s a damn tree farm on steroids lol
About what size are these stumps? The trees here and floor is pretty clean. The neighbors not so much. It is all those Cedar trees
They vary of course.....all sorts of sizes. Biggest would be 2' maybe.....not sure plus just started my coffee....lolAbout what size are these stumps?
You are reaching too far now....lolBased on the other thread to redeem yourself from buying an electric lawnmower you should hook a chain to the stumps and rip them out with your truck. I believe you have a RAM with the Cummings? If yes, make sure the mirrors are flipped up and put a big C sticker in the back window while you yank out the stumps.
DamnI would buy a Skidsteer and Mini X in the 8k lb range for property maintenance. Dig them out. This was a orange tree that I had to remove. View attachment 1415011 View attachment 1415012 View attachment 1415013

If this stump is on city property they are responsible for removing the stump and repairing the sidewalk. The sidewalk looks like a trip and fall hazard that the city would be responsible for. Call the city and your councilman.I got this stum to remove. It's on top of the city water main. 3' from my water meter. And next to the sewer lateral to street. Afraid to pull it out with my Skidsteer. View attachment 1414304
That's a 72" bucket on my Cat. That one was a bitch to remove. It's a driveway now.Damn

Write a letter back saying it's an assault stump with the following features: pistol grip, flash suppressor, telescopic butt stock, forward grip, aux. grenade launcher, ect... SWAT should be there in no time to eliminate it.Gottaminute did that 16 years ago. Still waiting. View attachment 1415048
Paint "Trump" on both the street and sidewalk sides. Some nitwit will complain, saying the "Trump Stump" hurt their feelings. Call your councilman! They don’t like hearing complaints and will call the city department in charge! LA is a big city, keep calling!Gottaminute did that 16 years ago. Still waiting. View attachment 1415048

Have you priced shutters lately? Then what you need are some nice shutters
Out of sight, out of mind
Have you priced stump grinders? May be a washHave you priced shutters lately?
I got a quote from CAT for a new mini X. Holy shit! But they were offering 0% financing. It was still like $1300+ a month.Have you priced stump grinders? May be a wash
This is why I considered it an investment to sell my hot rod parts and buy the whiz-bang scan tool...new crap is incredibly pricey. In turn, this means keeping older models usable becomes more desirable.I got a quote from CAT for a new mini X. Holy shit! But they were offering 0% financing. It was still like $1300+ a month.
just way too funny. between my neighbor and I, i would of bet 20 calls to the city to get that tree removed. you are there a couple months and a along with thread on RDP and BNAG the city sends a crew out. i think someone on RDP must have connections.Got lucky. The tree trimmers showed up after 16 years. View attachment 1423199 View attachment 1423200
They were cutting the trees in the neighborhood. They posted no parking signs at beginning of the week and a cone in middle of the stump and a spray paint mark on curb. I saw them a few blocks over yesterday and talked to the Lady towing the stump grinder. She said if there is a stump they will grind it flat and they had her bring the stump grinder which She normally would not have. I stopped by and he was backed up to it. I asked him what I could do to get it removed instead of flat. He said he would go 18" down but couldn't go deeper without dig alert. He had already exposed the meter at that point.just way too funny. between my neighbor and I, i would of bet 20 calls to the city to get that tree removed. you are there a couple months and a along with thread on RDP and BNAG the city sends a crew out. i think someone on RDP must have connections.
maybe they will tune up the sidewalk as well. cant hurt to ask about widening the apron as well, since they are there burning up tax dollars.
I'll see you in a few weeks to fix the sidewalkGot lucky. The tree trimmers showed up after 16 years. View attachment 1423199 View attachment 1423200
You just need the water main to break, so the city will remove it..I got this stum to remove. It's on top of the city water main. 3' from my water meter. And next to the sewer lateral to street. Afraid to pull it out with my Skidsteer. View attachment 1414304
They removed majority of it today. He wouldn't run the sump grinder below 18" to avoid the main. You just need the water main to break, so the city will remove it..
I asked the tree guys today at our site if this was them, they said no that was Arturo's (spelling) crew. He said he believes that sidewalk is approved but keep calling anyway like I told you in our PM.Got lucky. The tree trimmers showed up after 16 years. View attachment 1423199 View attachment 1423200
