Summing up the weekend

This year we did it a little different. Took the kids to the arcade during the day, bowling, movies, whatever, and then launched the boat around 5 or 6. We went over to a cove a knew had shade and someone very thoughtfully left out chairs for us every evening. We hung out till the sun went down and pulled the boat out after dark when the crowds were gone. I didn’t have to set up an ez up or take out any chairs. It was perfect. No I didn’t take or mess up anyone stuff, I borrowed a few chairs and left everything the same way they did. Figure if you can’t beat them, just join them. On the 4th we did the all day think. 9-6. Long day. It was an awesome weekend. Brother is getting married in a couple weeks so they couldn’t make it out and my pops stayed at the ranch to take care of the animals. Only lost 4 chickens on his watch

They had stuff there on the 4th. I set up but was more than willing to leave if they showed up with a big group. They didn’t get out till like 4 that day and it was just to grab their stuff. They were pretty hung over. I had seen them leave the night before and it was a shit show. I thought one of the couple were going to beat the shot out of each other. I told my wife maybe I should start drinking again and she gave me a look like she was possessed

Did the same thing on the 4th up here in havasu it was awesome. We launched about 630 and stayed out til about 1130. This will probably be the program for the next few years!

Same for us. I think I like it better. My wife said it was more enjoyable not feeling like she was going to melt after parking the trailer and walking back to the dock.

we pretty much launch late and get off in the dark most days. Wiping down the boat and doing the launch ramp thing is BS in the late afternoon/evening sun/heat.

Waited until 7pm last night and took the family to the springs for dinner. Got home around 11:30 pm. Awesome night on the water!

Those are the best hours to be on the water, it also helps to be home during nap hours when you have young kids. What we have discovered is going out in the morning coming back around noon letting my son and Grandpa take a nap and then heading back out around 5:00 works best for us and everyone is also in a good mood because they are caught up on sleep lol. It’s also fun grabbing a channel spot in the afternoon and watching the shit show as everyone heads back to the ramp.

We've been launching around 4 ever since last year when the launch ramps were closing early with capacity issues. Always were late launchers since the boys grew up. 11 was our norm

We just got home late yesterday after spending 5 days at the Islander and had a good time.

We went up to the Sandbar on Friday and hung out for a few hours. Eventfully the cops came by on the loud speaker and told everyone to leave so we left. On the way back, my boat started running shitty and spent the rest of the weekend on the trailer.

Needles to say we didn't boat as much as expected but spent a ton of time day drinking at the Islander pool and made the best of it.

So many idiots out, we drove through the channel and I felt claustrophobic and couldn't get out if it soon enough.

Headed back from the Sandbar I was running really close to the reeds at the mouth of the lake/river and some dip shit came within a few feet of me and decided to pass me on the right (even closer to the reeds) and almost went head on with 2 Sea Doo's in front of us. It was a bit of a what the fuck/white knuckle moment.

Vic, your plan of late launch has worked very well for us as well. So much less traffic and idiots on the water makes it much more relaxing to go boating or out on the pwc's.
