Been a long road but finally have some progress on my new CC. Sold my M28 in September, after some negotiation with Preston at Horizon I had a
6CD4ABD2-9CB8-4956-9A32-86EAA4A78482.jpeg
deal pending me being able to get in one. I’m in Canada, there are exactly zero 32CCX’s in Canada, we have covid and a closed border. I found a loophole that allowed me to fly to Vegas. I rented a car drove to Havasu and spent 3 hours on a boat that Horizon had sold a month prior. Was a dead calm morning but spent a bunch of time carving thru other boat wakes as well as the ferry wake a few hundred times at different speeds and angles. Absolutely exceeded my expectations as well as running almost 80 mph with twin 400’s.
I loved my DCB, it never failed to put a smile on my face but our needs have changed and we found our family and friend group getting bigger each year so after 4 great summers and 197.6 hours we took the plunge.

Its been a real pleasure working with Joe and everybody else at Sunsation. They popped the deck out of the mold Monday and started spraying the hull. They do have some covid concerns at their factory and were shut down last spring for 9 weeks like everyone else. REALLY hoping there wont be a shutdown or delay this year.

Now that you are building a nice CC, we can go play next time I am up on the Shuswap. Say hello to Jacki for me. Have a great weekend.

Where is Sunsation based out of? Really cool seeing from the start but even cooler seeing a different way of doing things.

Where do you do most of your boating? specifically, are you going to use this in the ocean?

Thanks.

We boat in the interior of B.C. Canada on a lake called Shuswap. 1100 miles of shoreline much of it totally uninhabited. Parts of the lake are Havasu busy during the summer months and it gets pretty whipped up, roll bar boats ya know. Not ruling out a trip to the big blue, Vancouver is about 5 hours away.

These are great boats. I am on my third Sunsation Center Console . They ride great, have lots of room and are very well laid out.

Thanks for that.

I just finished an Amazon series called Jade Fever. It was about a Jade mining family in the BC interior. (Dease Lake & Jade City)

Anywhere near you? Actually an enjoyable series and didn’t know BC has 75% of the worlds Jade.

The Shuswap lake is very desolate and nothing nice to see up there. I unfortunately have had to deliver a few boats up that way and the sooner I could drop the boat and leave the better.

@X-rated I found it (Shuswap) on a map of BC. I was interested because I am doing a Mountain Bike race there in August. It starts in Banff and goes to Mexico. Its 2745 miles, mostly dirt. We start in Banff, ride the trail, cross from Alberta into BC at around, Kananaskis lake, Elk Pass. We cross into Montana at Rooseville/Eureka. Go thru Montana/Idaho/Wyoming/Colorado and New Mexico. Finish at Antelope Wells New Mexico at the border post.

I did it in 2014 and blew an Achilles in Seely Lake Montana.

You're not to far West of the trail we roll. Absolutely beautiful country up there. I envy you.

Cant wait to see your new boat on the lake! Don’t think I’ve actually ever seen a CC on it yet. I’ve seen your M28 quite a few times in the last couple years And always wondered who it was! Always enjoy seeing something new. Congrats on the build!

Couple pics of the boat with the console mounted. It left the factory Friday headed to Mitcher T’s shop for paint which is where the magic happens. Will probably be there for a month or so and it sounds like he will send pics of the progress to me as it happens. Can’t lie...starting to get pretty excited here!!

Never had a painted boat before. Nearly 100% of Sunsation’s are painted by Mitch of Mitcher T fame. His shop is a few hours away from the Sunsation factory and mine landed there a week or so ago. After a few days of prep the first coat was sprayed yesterday. A very complex procedure that anyone who has followed the Skater thread will appreciate. So much more they can do with paint vs gel and vinyl.

A final wet sand and a couple more coats of clear, she’s finished!! Unbelievable how quick these guys are. Already back at the factory with rigging started this morning.

Awesome. Love the detail. What's their best estimate on rigging time?

Awesome!!! Looks great... One question not bagging on it at all, but are they going to do something different with the rub rail? The unevenly spaced screws caught my eye and would drive me crazy along with the holes with no screws? Kind of weird...

10 days ish.... Then off to PBC in Missouri where Florida Bowthruster will install a thruster. Wanted to have it installed at the factory but due to scheduling and Covid it wasn't happening. Florida Bowthruster is a mobile company that travels to install thrusters on just about any kind of boat. Unfortunately they won't travel to AZ so new boat gets a side trip to MO.

That looks like the base rub rail that a stainless insert goes over the top of. It’ll look nice when done.

Getting close!! Im quite likely the worlds least patient man, there is absolutely no way in hell I could wait 2 years for a new build. Obviously this is apples and oranges different than a new Skater or even a DCB but the process has been fun!

The Sunstation crew is awesome. Bought 2 factory direct since no dealers in CA at the time. Customer support is second to none Still have all their direct cell numbers on my phone. Brother has one as well. Mitch is awesome. Nicest guy you will ever meet. Congratulations on the new ride.
