I put this in the offroad section but its dead over there.
I pick up AMS M1 evils 32 x 15 x10 this coming saturday.
I still have a chance to change.
Any opinions on these? Ive heard they wont wear out. Good in hard pack
8 ply, DOT.
For the Can Am 2 seater
Thanks

I’m interested to hear why you wanted a more rounded tire than what you had.

I haven’t heard anything about those particular tires.

I think the flatter style tire hits the chop harder. It almost slaps the chop and has little side wall absorbtion.
The rounder in theory should have more cushion on the surface.
Guess im gonna find out!

The Can-Am dealer in Havasu highly recommended them.
You are correct. I was there Saturday and more than one person loved them. They have them on a few display cars
That is why im leaning that direction

Probably a solid choice then. I’d give them a try!

I haven’t driven my car with round tires other than going from the stock Big Horn to Liberty, but I’ve driven similar setup cars to mine with round tires and steering feel was quite a bit different.

That I could see all things being equal (but they probably aren’t equal with regard to carcass construction). I feel like the round tires generally don’t give the same forward bite and the car squirms around a bit more. That is the trade off.

I haven’t noticed those. There are so many tires out now days it’s crazy...

I like the tensor DS 32, 34.5 lb, I have a few friends with them and they seem to last a while.

just an FYI my 35 tensor tire is 45 lbs.

Make sure you get those balanced with some stick on weights

I wasn't aware the tensor is that light.
Im going with method 405s, not sure the weight. But they seemed real light!

Yes on balance, does discount in havasu do it?

The 405 I believe is the lightest non race Method wheel.

The DS are really light for the size, but they are basically race tires not DOT tires.

Check and see if Discount will mount beadlocks, 18 months ago they would not. I went to Big O and they did it.

I wouldve gone with the tensor ds had they been a dot tire. The regulators are like bricks.. Curious to try a rounder tire after these tensors..

Regulators are proven . But bricks for sure.
The fuel gripper RT was a option i considered.

I run MRT tires on my cars and love them ! Lasting great . Kevlar light weight and super tough. Run great on the pavement considering the aggressive tread.

They hold up great in our rocky havasu terrain.
A friend recommended them and I’m not disappointed

I have those M1 Evils. 2k miles offroad around Havasu and still look good. One of the rears picked up a framing nails 3 times, replaced it, not the tires fault.

I've been using Chicane Tires the last 3 years and couldn't be more impressed. We have probably put around 3,500 miles on them and they've lost approx. 10% of tread. Also a Rounded DOT / 8 Ply Tire. If I had a CanAm I would probably go with a 33" tire to add another 1/2" of ground clearance. https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/tires-and-wheels/sti-chicane-rx-tire-p

Are the big horns really that bad, are they going to explode if I drive on them. Dropping a grand on tires after buying the car sucks.

I keep hearing that too and I've seen them flattened by the simplest of things, but they are a good all around tire. Mine have held up fine.
I'm looking at the carnivores for replacement. probably jump up to 32's.
Two 1/8" twigs on the trail took this Big Horn out.

Has anyone been questioned by police about DOT tires?

my neighbor is a havasu PD and he says they don’t really care or check for that

We always ride in groups and is a cop really going to take the time to check everyones tires????

I personally run the Tensor DS in the harder compound that are not DOT approved. They are expensive but the lightest 32 on the market. The less unsprung weight the better the suspension can work. And the rounded tread design runs in the ruts way better.

Do yourself a favor if you are buying wheels and tires stay stock on the offset and keep the scrub radius where it should be. Car will handle way better in the desert.

They are the DOT versions on beadlock rims. Ride fine on the street up to 60-65mph ish. Not balanced, and dont notice any out of balance harmonics vibrating the chassis.

Can am is a 6+1 offset. The RC version has some odd offset on the front I think.
I’m going with 5+2 wheels. Finding a 6+1 after market wheel really narrows your options.

Even a 5+2 cuts your choices, the wheel I like in looks the best doesn’t come in that size.

Discount is balancing these, dealer is mounting.
Discount WILL mount the tires but will not put the bead lock on
BIG O will do it all, 35$ per corner, mount and balance

They won’t check. Tires are DOT, bead locks are NOT. So either way your not really legal.

The RC is different because it has the same wheel and tire all around stock. It is basically a 5+2 offset that comes on the RC, so you will be fine.

I didn't want to spend a grand either and maybe be disappointed.
No problems with my bighorns
I buy the brand new take offs from everyone else. Have 2 sets.
They have their good and bad just like any other tire. They even work fine in the dunes when aired down.
We do a lot of street riding and holding up fine over 2000 miles although the rear always wear quicker

rounded tires don’t get stuck in the rugs and in my opinion run smoother than squares off ones in the desert

Bighorns seem to do everything OK but nothing great.

30s are not that expensive.. You can get something really nice for under $700 installed. If you run stock RZR wheels, you might just want 4 fronts though instead of the wider rears.

I would agree. I think the downside of the smoothness is that the handling is not as crisp.
