Unless you don't have a pulse, you'll dig this recording of "T for Texas" performed by Skynyrd at the Knebworth, UK festival in 1976. Check out Ronnie Van Zant smiling while new guitarist Steve Gaines lays down a killer slide solo...

Great post 4R’s. Skynyrd was king when it came to good ole southern rock in 70’s. Most big bands like The Who and The Stones regretted having Skynyrd open for them because Skynyrd did what ever the fuck they wanted and were such a tough act to follow.

Not very many people know that Skynyrd worked 8-10 hours a day writing music and practicing their sets over and over for literally years. In a small un-airconditioned shack that they called "Hell House", the musicians worked nonstop to produce riffs that expanded into songs, and it wasn't unusual for Van Zant to come up with lyrics for the tunes within minutes.

This 35 minute interview with Skynyrd guitarist Ed King reveals the fascinating details of how the band came out of the Florida swamps to become one of the greatest rock bands in America. It also features him playing some pretty cool licks with his interviewer, guitarist Marty Schwartz.

Sadly, Ed died last August. Due to early onset congestive heart failure, he had received a heart transplant in 2011. Just before his death, it was reported he had been diagnosed with cancer. Gary Rossington and Artemis Pyle are the only pre-airplane crash surviving members of the band.
