Missing many. I clean up the garage sometimes. I'll have a stack of 8 or 9 of them....they slowly disappear. Only to turn up again later.

I once had a stack of seven left gloves. Not a single right glove to be found.

Used to make the zinc cases for Stanley tools years ago. Made 25,000 cases a week for years. Sat down and tried to figure out how many went to each retail store. Calculated that 25k a week was about just 2 for each store and that was only 15’ model.

Can never have enough of them. I have over 50 of them I can think of. At least 6 in each truck and a pile on the shelf from when we go through and organize the trucks.

WERE THE FUK DO THEY GO? I have bought hundreds of them, can't find any.

I swear there is some little tape measure muncher.

Rant over

Lol so true. Funny story when I was working for my uncle in Florida, he would swing by the jobsite and we would have to measure something. Anyhow that fucker would click that tape on his belt and walk away, so I would go back to work framing some shit and reach for my tape and that fucker was long gone! I came back home to Vegas with zero tape measures. A year later I went back and visited and sitting on the shelf of his mill shop was 6 of my tape measures with me initials on them. They're still there

Wait til your kid starts using the tools.🤨

I’m pretty good about about keeping tools organized. But the tape measure is the Houdini of the bunch. I think the magnet on the end gets pulled toward that nut or bolt that you dropped and can’t seem to find.

My tape measure purchases have gone down immensely since I no longer have employees or coworkers! It's amazing, There are two in my tool cart, and two in the rollcab...hell, the other ones even stay where I leave them.

As a preemptive strike, I bought my kids a bunch of Harbor Freight ones. They haven't lost or broken them all yet, so I'm safe.

I know exactly where mine are. The wife has them all. She has two in the kitchen drawer, three in the buffet, two more in her shed and another in her nightstand with the same compliment at our River pad. Every time I buy one for my tool box she manages to acquire another new one. It has been a point of argument for many years because she always claims that she bought them even when I scribe my my name on it she just says that "anyone can write their name on stuff and that doesn't mean anything". I finally gave up on having one of my own (just not worth the argument) and just ask to borrow one of hers, of course the request is usually met with "what happened to yours". it's best to say I lost it.

This tape measure will start a fist fight. My grandpa had me in his work shop at 13 years old.

I'm pretty sure I dissapointed most of my family becoming an Ironworker, as the rest of my family are carpenters. This is the last tool I have left from my grandpa showing me the ropes in his workshop. No one is allowed to use it.

When I was in Florida my house got robbed and a ton of my tools that I inherited from my grandpa were stolen, but somehow this tape measure has stayed around.

Do you prefer the tape measure that locks automatically or do you like the tapes that you have to push the button to lock? (I prefer the ones that auto-lock extended and push the button to retract).

What do you think when you hear someone call it a "measuring tape?" o_O

You think you all have issues, I have a 5 year old in the shop with me most of the time. Tape measures are one of his favorites..........

And if anyone shows up to work on your stuff with a tape like this, they need to leave 👀

Auto lock tape measures equal the dad looking dude with high white socks and white new balance shoes (definitely denim shorts). He got the okay to leave the house and buy the fancy Harbor Freight tape measure.

At a wire job I had we had to use micrometers. Don’t know how accurate I was with those either!

....but what do the little diamonds represent at 19-3/16", 38-3/8", 57-5/8", 76-13/16, & 96"?

That's centerline layout of your studs if you want 5 equal spaces on your 8' sheet of plywood between your studs with a stud on each end.

Just bought a new truck and found four of them hiding in various places when I cleaned out the old truck.

I only know that from watching This Old House. I wish I knew what they knew. I have a skil saw. Only use it to cut pallets for firewood.

I've been in construction for a long time, I have never seen "studs" layed out at 19 ³/¹⁶" but underfloor and floor joist, yes!
