Test Fixture/Warning!!! Billet Overload

This tool is a test fixture for a Flux Capacitor Housing that Schiada is testing for future power plants. This is one of the reasons the Super V-Drive was created.

Features on fixture have to line up with features on housing. Fixture checks core shift, shrinkage, and machine stock. These fixtures are available exclusively from D21 Enterprises.

It's a check fixture for that sand casting. I design and build the tool before the casting is made. I do it all from a cad model of the casting I get from the foundry. I insert the model of casting into SolidWorks first, and then build the fixture around it. Takes me about 40 hrs to design. Every piece has to have properties assigned to it. So alum weighs about .1 of a pound per sq in ect. SolidWorks keeps track of these properties and tells me where the center of gravity is. Thus the counterweight. I'll put up a pic of the cad model of the tool. My customer has to approve this cad model before I order any material.

Really nice looking work. I've been machining aluminum and magnesium castings for about the past 20 years. Do some targeting also. A well thought out and well made fixture is worth it's weight in gold.
