That's exactly what I thought. The bottom of the car (front subframe) showed how bad the first hit to the wall was.

Bad feeling about this one...As mentioned, no lifeflite, and black screens. AND, the network quit showing re plays, they live for re plays....The drivers have mega protection, but not from that angle, in fact, with the roll bars supporting the drivers head/neck there is nowhere to hide/move if the roof/driver's side caves in...
We can only hope for the best...

I think that was oil running down.. If fuel, it would have been a huge fire....

The hit by the trailing car was bad enough but the aftermath upside down drop back to asphalt at 200 mph is hard to imagine.
Still photos show it would be like dropping off the height of story roof upside down at WOT.
Like Gorden said in so many words after the event, "even with the best modern designed safety equipment possible............

They have a new car coming out next year.. they have a reasonable amount of space.. but the cars (no car) is designed to take that kind of hit unscathed.

Newman has been vocal in the past he hates the super speedway racing.

Is not the car, it is the speeds and close “plate” racing.
