The nature of message boards?

It appears to me, but I may be wrong, @DILLIGAF has left the building. I know he was part of the Speed car dust-up in the lounge in late April. I haven't done any research, but it appears he has not posted since.

To my point - We (me) make "internet friends". There's people, who's posts I like to read. Dilligaf was one of those. I think its a shame that when a member goes away, for whatever reason, they are seemingly, instantly forgotten.

Tyro (460) is a friend of mine, I value him as a part of my life. When he got banned he commented to me that only a couple people made any effort to stay in contact, sad.

Am I alone in this thought? The people I have things in common with, generally, I have at least some relationship with away from RDP. It may only be a text once in a while, but there is contact of some kind.

I believe Dilligaf was a great asset to this site.

To Steve’s point, message boards are fickle. Sharing personal information on a public forum is a personal choice. Not coming back after an infraction is a personal choice. It may be due to pride, pity, boredom, shame or whatever.

If you don’t like what someone posts there are 2 options - hit the ignore button on the site or hit the ignore button in your brain. If you don’t like what they post and still choose to engage with that person you’ve made the choice to converse with someone you claim not to care for. So you need to take responsibility for your own unhappiness when using the boards. It is not the other persons fault you are angry from conversing with them.

These message boards are what you personally make them. I’ve made many great friends from here and it’s a wonderful resource for knowledge or lack there of.

I will lose this question to anyone on here.. what happens when there is infighting (worse than little kids and for now reason) and ya say knock it off.. then it keeps going.. after the fifth or six knock it the fuck off.. you give an ultimatum and an opportunity to Just delete the petty shit they all posted literally the day or two before..

Some delete it / some don’t.. and some say I’m not deleting shit.

Well the line was drawn.. we all made our choices.. but much like Tom if I say I’m gonna do something I do it. I told them all exactly what it was.

I hope he comes back.. I’m not entirely sure if he’s still banned or not to be honest it was like 8-10 weeks? That said I’m not gonna go against my own lines in the sand..

There was nothing unfair there, there was nothing malicious.. honestly there was no reason for any of it.. same thing with 460 @nganga .. he just kinda went off the rails towards me and this place. Dunno why but I’m not gonna sit there and let a person or persons cause a bunch of shit on here for any reason.

You drew the line, everyone had time to course correct. If someone is not coming back from that out of spite and is upset that their personal relationship or previous contributions didn’t excuse them from punishment, it is on them.

The one category we did not block was porn. We tracked that and usually fired folks for breaking the company policy on asset usage. I have been at some large companies, no difference from the janitor to the C suite when it comes to corp policy violations. Before my current gig, I was leading Audit & Compliance organizations and was on the executive review committee for corporate policy violations. At each company, employee name and title was removed when we were reviewing case files, so decisions could be made without influence. After a decision was made, we would be notified of the title and name. Glad to say in all cases our decisions never changed when we finally put a name to a file.

FYI - Porn today is considered more of a workplace harassment issue, which gets viewed differently then 5-8 years ago. Most companies don’t care how much revenue you bring into the company, get caught you are most likely done.
