I'd bet that TT is used by most of the members for mobile access. It's 100% easier to use than the full site on a mobile phone IMO.

Not hating, just prefer to not use the "easy" way. I prefer the full site.

I tried TT...twice in fact. Removed it from my phone both times.

All I'm saying is that it isn't the end of the world, and certainly no reason to think RDP can't be accessed seamlessly and easily without TT.

And yes you can upload multiple photos into a post.. but you are still selecting them one at a time if it's on a mobile device.

The new software you can select like 40 photos and it will start uploading them in the background as soon as you hit go.

Tapatalk is super easy. Will keep an open mind for this app that is going to release. 4 of the other forums I am use tapatalk so it will be an extra step to go check rdp. The last forum I was apart of that tried doing this lost most of its members

Can't stand using a browser to get on rdp or any forum. My eyes are WAY too old to read anything that way. I'm one of the 99.5% TT users. Able to post multiple pics.

I am surprised that there wasn't a handful of users selected to BETA Test the new site before completely switching everything over.

With my MBS Forum (mortgage market) they had me as a beta tester for like 6 months before they switched everyone over.

Tapatalk came along because VB wasn't being supported on mobile devices.. As the devices increased and technology increased VB did not. TT ended up removing all the branding and made the sites function again so you could upload photos etc..


The new softwares that are available don't need the third wheel. Again we are going to have a simplified mobile app.. but as the video above shows, I'm not even sure you need one anymore other than "one click" to RDP which would be the main function.. etc.

Reality is though is we want real deal classifieds and other features, those aren't going to work with Tapatalk. It will be an app and it will have custom coded add ons.

Dave, don't worry about this. What you're doing is great stuff and you're taking a big chance not using some off-the-shelf forum software product. The good news is you build it and people will come.

We are using an off the shelf forum software, but doing a bunch of custom add ons to the software to get some features that don't currently exist.

For example, on OSO their classifieds system is custom. It isn't part of VB. Same with Race Dezert etc.. So we are creating all of our own stuff same as they did, and playing catch up, more or less.

Think about what you just wrote.. Then think about the reason why. When you get done coming around that circle you'll understand why we are developing all this. LOL

RDP used to be the spot where everybody uploaded all their weekend pics. It was a pain in the ass back then as well, but there wasn't any other option. With social media etc now making things so easy, we have changed over to a platform where RDP is putting out the majority of the content and the rest of the stuff is either builds, or daily talk. I'm making it easier for everyone to share their weekend trips and builds again, and I'm doing it in such a fashion that it will have options that social media just simply doesn't have.


Example one. Lets say you start a Vacation thread.

SML - We are in Maui!! Check this out!

You start thread, and upload pics. There is a box that says "Create gallery" you just check the box.

Now ole RiverDave says - Here's my pics from where we stayed there a few years ago..

You come back two days later and add more pics.




Well a gallery was created from the Original Poster. All the balance of the pics that SML posts in that thread go into his own individual gallery that is labelled under the thread title. Everyone else's pics just stay in the thread. So six months from now when you want to show someone your Maui Trip you click that gallery and there's your pics from start to finish without any interruptions.

Now take that same example and apply it to a build thread etc.. Now you have complete documentation of the build without any interruptions in the form of a gallery.



On social media if I start uploading pics of a build and take two weeks and come back.. You can't even find where the hell they went? Unless you use their galleries solely. Forums have always been better for capturing information and finding it later over SM.
