These are a couple of things my dad was doing back in the 50's. His patented hard top convertable, that was used in magazines, car shows, and was the first TV super hero, star car. Building open wheel racecars, like this Indy one. I had no idea that many of the business people I met as a kid would turn around and do business with me in later life.. Many very cool people in my dad's 'orbit' back in those days.

You stole lunch money from Roy Orbison?

Is that really Roy Orbison and is that his daughter beside him? :headscratch:

My Great Grandfather, John Peter Anderson, circa 1890 , founder of the Anderson Fish Company on Lake Superior. He was born in Norway in 1840 and emigrated to the US in the 1860s.

Great Uncle Captain John Arndt Anderson, US Lifesaving Service. Was second in command of USLSS Station Marquette and was the 1st Commanding Officer of USLSS (later USCG Station) Mackinac, MI. Born in Sweden, 1870.

Crew of USLSS Station Marquette, circa 1910. Uncle John is bottom row, far left. Bottom center is Captain Henry Cleary.

Crew.jpg

My Uncle John and Capt. Cleary were the first to install an engine in a USLSS/USCG rescue boat. Their innovation changed the way that sea rescues were conducted.

Prior to their invention, rescues were conducted with a 6-8 person crew rowing out to save victims. The below pictures show the Mackinac crew during a boat drill. My uncle John was the cox'n in charge. You can see him walking the boat as it is intentionally breached and then recovered, simulating a roll-over in heavy seas.

You might say that boating is in my genes. :)

This is what got me into boats. 1969, Long Beach Marine Stadium, NDBA unblown gas hydro. Charger hull, Chuck Skaggs owner/driver. Going 100 in this class at that time was a big deal. Check out the whitewalls on the trailer. cboat.jpg

I'm sure that the fact it's Froggy's van has something to do with it.

I'm gonna bring that pic to my painter and get the burb done like that.

I'm not sure what Jerry said because I have him on ignore...
