Went to the Pomona Swap Meet today and came across this bad ass little boat.

The seller bought it and is flipping it. He has never had it in the water. It has twin Mercury's and a full windshield. It's like a mini Skater or DCB. :D The boats overall length is at least 16'. This thing was bad ass.

And look close, NO CENTER POD. :D Is this considered a true cat?

The cool factor was the original looking Mercury whackers.

There is even an adjustable center tab on the transom above the center tunnel between the motors.

I think that thing is bad ass. If I wanted a true slow cruiser I would be all over it.

Without seeing the boat in person, I'd have to go with the Super Cat. Very doubtful it's a Power Cat and definitely not a Javalin Cat or a Stylecraft. My dad and I had a 1958 12'6" Power Cat (single engine -- Johnson V-4 75 hp) and then a 1960 15' Power Cat with twin 75 Johnsons modified to about 90 HP each -- that cat was good for mid 60 mph speeds). We also used a center tab over the tunnel (but it was not adjustable while running, it just made getting on plane a lot easier). When we had the smaller (12'6") Power Cat, I still think we were the first to extensively experiment with various pod designs/shapes (about 30 different ones made out of hardwood) in the tunnel to make the boat run better with a single engine.

Why stop at 2 ?
The little one in the 3rd picture is a 13' 6' Power Cat with twin Merc 55's
Look at the Start boat in the 4th pic furthest in the photo a Early wood Power Cat.
Why stop with cats hell lets hang a couple 6 cyl Merc on a 13' 6" Flatbottom and see how that works

When boat racing was simple reasonable priced and a hell of lot of fun.

I was right down the way from this thing. I want it to tow behind my wagon. Sweet little boat and the merc 500's on the back were cool looking.

Thanks for sharing the Leo Wildman photos. I got to drive the #105 boat a couple of times -- owned by John Merritt from the LAX/Westchester area -- had a Texaco gas station for years at the corner of Century Blvd. and Aviation right near LAX.

We had two very similar boats that were built in the mid and late '60's. The brand was Fantasy one 16' and one 17'. We ran 17 footer well into the 1980's mostly in parker. It was originally rigged as a race boat with twin 125 Mercs. We then bought it as a single and skied behind it for years.

Nothing new Power Cat race boats had tunnel tabs from the late 50's by the 60's they were common place. In fact they also developed a power trim before it existed from the factorys. There were guys setting up boats with a jack mounted next to the drivers seat with a ram at the transom that would tilt the motor out. One pump = 1/2 to 1 pin hole they would weld a handle on the pressure relief to dump the engines down. The Arrow Craft had that system on it with the twins. Earl Palmer actually had a short ram system unit designed in the mid to late 60's for the Style Craft Cats built in Lake Havasu. Also some of the tunnel tabs were adjustable.

Cool bit of info. I was more having a good at 2FFs tunnel tab thread though. Lol
