Did a little road trip this week. Drove my friend to pick up a truck her dad gave her.

I took a few pics along the way...

This is heading out of SoCal to central California. It a Terrible drive! Zero views. Flat farm land. It boring as boring can be, it's tough to stay awake driving across central CA.

But it's a necessary evil to get to the good stuff...

Destination? Cathy's Valley.

Her dad has a ranch there that he has for sale at the moment. He hurt his back bad, so he can't care for it like like he used to.

The inside is beyond amazing. This is county living at it's finest...

As you start heading up into the foothills of Yosemite, that's where things start to get good...

when we had a home in merced in early 80s as kids was a fun place as we were on outer edge of town got to go into the countryside and creeks.Yosemite was fairly close. My dad use to take us trout fishing to that river there further up.

we use to get a good amount of trout too then head over to a blackberry bush get fresh berrys to eat..

We have arrived! This is just beyond the west entrance. I skipped Yosemite Valley as I have been their multiple times.

I was stoked Tioga pass road was still open! They have already received their first snows up there and I'm sure they will close it soon.

The only way to get from the west to east entrance is across Tioga Pass. It's a breath taking drive...

I grew up in San Gabriel. 😊

And yeah, kids today have no clue. But who's fault is that???

Apparently planting your kid in front of a video game console is more important than getting them outside. 🙄

My son has hiked Half Dome both times with me. He knows the Yosemite back county as well as I do.

Had him riding in Kennedy Meadows before he started school! LoL

He knows what the great outdoors is. 👍🏼

Great looking place and photos but it's still California under Democrat rule!! Sad to see such a beautiful State get stomped on by a bunch of liberal asshats!!

This is the other CA. The one most people will never see. And that's kinna ok. Hopefully the political rhetoric will keep them out. 😉

CA is closed! Buh bye now! 😁

Nice spread! 76 acres, I need that!

Great pictures and brings back great memories of going as a family on RV trips up there. I need more vacation time so I can take my son up there but he loves being in the RZR so have to try and work that in. LOL Hopefully Mammoth next year.

If you haven't been through Tioga Pass you need to do it at least once. Half the time it's closed. Ending up in Mammoth is pretty cool also.

There's LOTS of off roading up there!!!

@bldrinker, myself and a few others have explored all over that place.

Gimme a call and I'll hook you up. There are dry camping spots galore and endless miles of riding trails.

Probably better to go this time of year or in spring. Summer is hot and bone DRY!!! I think the river has more humidity! 🤣

We went one year, in my avatar that is a pic of my son that passed and me on top of Bald Peak Lookout. It was a blast and I think we did around 350 miles in a Rhino in 3 days. One reason I really want to get up there is so I can spread some of Dylans ashes..

Thanks for taking us along.
I've driven through there twice with both times being east to west. Such a beautiful drive it is....gotta get back there again. These are from Oct 2006 and it was very gloomy that day.

Yes it is! LoL

And it IS happening. My friend is an auditor for the project. She is swamped. It is definitely moving forward.

I read up on it a bit. It's not slated to be finished until 2082. Good job security right there. 😁

This looks like Big Bend campground in Lee Vining creek area. I will be there again Sunday. Been going up there since 70’s. The two lakes at top of Tioga Pass are Tioga Lake and Ellery Lake.

Really dude!?!

I didn't post the names for a reason!! These camping areas are closed. Nothing to see here. Move along...

😜

I’m lucky to live about twenty minutes from the eastern sierras. All the benefits of rural NV but can still enjoy the beauty of CA. I pop over the hill and can explore a lot of areas most folks don’t frequent. Won’t mention any names as we don’t want word to get out. I will say though, if you just wander around back roads of NorCal you’ll be amazed by the area.

So awesome.

I wanna do Half Dome one more time with my daughter, and the trail that goes through Tualamie Canyon still.

I have zero ambition to try and do Whitney. 😜
