Pulled out the Cougar...
Filled both tanks to the brim...(I don’t want condensation forming)
Wiped her down, gave her a coat of polish...
We are ready to test. If it wasn’t so damn windy here today, I’d have gone out.

Few of us are gonna meet @ Porthole on Sunday @ 10:30am then hit the spam festival in Isleton by boat. Hope some of you can make it.

Appreciate the offer, I believe I'm all set. You may want to check with Drew @ Boatmasters to see if he has anything that needs to go to Havapuddle.

The DBR 300xs on the Cougar is looking good. Joe Abellera fabricated a beautiful skirt for her...
And DBR re mapped my ECU....
Here is a shot of the new Velocity stack from DBR.
Put the 30 BBLADES on her and maybe tomorrow she gets to eat. I’ll be really happy to see 113-115 mph. (And still get 4 mpg! )
Ditching the 4 seat interior was the way to go...sitting between the stringers (instead of on top) drops the CG and gets you totally out of the wind. Going to a 15” short shaft lower unit streamlines this little freight train.
Heads up trim display on dash keeps me focused on the water, but it’s easy to see your trim position because it’s in your field of vision.
Dead foot on the floor next to foot throttle keeps me stable when sizzling through the rough.
Gauges include fuel, volts, water pressure, RPM and GPS Speed. Smart craft has most of those, with oil pressure as well.
Big thanks to Joe at Hot Laps Marine. He has helped me go faster and farther than ever before.

Well....the test hit was a success!!
she had perfect balance...Engine was stronger than I expected...
Speed was better than I expected...
Sunset was prettier than I expected....

I took her for a nice brisk 60-90 mph ride, and got to know her again. Turning seemed predictable and solid. Roll on power felt linear... this thing is fast from 70 to 110mph.
No vibration ... water was just exceptionally nice today...moments of absolute mirror were had on many passes.
All things considered, I couldn’t be happier.
we haven’t tuned this thing yet...water pressure at 110mph was 28 lbs....I could go higher for sure.
I was in a sour mood when I left the house. After that run, I had a whole new perspective. I need to boat more often!

Rev, does that ecm have a bumped up limiter? What wheel were you running? When Im back in business I need to get back to the Afterbay for some tinkering. Glad to see the NewCanoe back in your garage!

Alex, the ECU has been altered to remove the limiter completely. The fuel system can’t exceed 7000 rpm, so you need to keep that in the back of your mind.
It really felt good to be back in the saddle of the MTR . I love the way it runs in perfect water....even when the conditions are “ sticky smooth” the Cougar has beautiful manners. I can’t wait to spend a day with Wild Bill , and perfect this combo. I just know it’s going to be even better than its current state.

Next step is to go up 1/8”...
Check into a 34 pitch blade...
Only run 10 gallons of fuel...Today I was running 35 gallons when testing.

I like this photo of the boat...it blends in so well it’s hard to see!

Ive got a 34x14.875" 5 blade Spinelli wheel that you should try. It was just not enough dia. for me i think. Another afterbay session is definitely in order soon.

Id love to try it! Wild Bill has the worked Hoss 3 blade that I ran 122 mph with on the 300X DBR. I wonder what the speed will be on the 300XS. We will see!!

Hula & Rev, both your machines look & run fantastic, congrats.
I've got the winter bravo 30's on our big girl for today. There has been a fair amount of wood in the Delta lately. Meeting at Porthole @ 10:30 then thru Rio Vista & up to Isleton for the spam festival. Gonna be a great day! Hope Highvoltage329 & KingofBeers wave as they fly by us.

HST4ME....I need that compressor silencer. This thing at idle sounds like a clown car. It is ok off idle, but at idle it is embarrassing....sounds like a bad exhaust leak. The Alien cowling assists in this problem. HELP ME !!!!!

Another killer day on the Delta. The spam fest in Isleton was not very exciting, shockingly. Had a great lunch across the street then a nice rip back to Porthole. My turd HATED the 30 bravos, didnt plane great, mid range was marginal, & top of 93 @ 6k SUCKED. Highvoltage329 laughed as he & KingofBeers FLEW by us. Sadly there wasn't enough wind nor HUGE cruisers kicking big rollers for me to get past them

LoL...told you so! I'll see if I can get over to his house this week. The KN filter is off a honda street bike. Probably a cbr 600, thats what he rides.

The noise on my 2015 28 Nordic when I had the 300s on it after I did the kit made me repower to 400s. Couldn’t stand it. I took a boat that my wife loved and made her hate it immediately. Until I put the 400s on. So loud and I think I might’ve actually lost some power.

The kit on my single powered cougar made a positive difference. Better holeshot and midrange punch. 2mph top end improvement.

But that noise is irritating at idle and low rpms.

Cant imagine it would be pleasant with twins!!
