Shall we have services here on RDP ??
I think we shall !!
Thank you all for the kind words on winning this years Parker 300 Enduro...
We worked hard to assemble a boat that would have a shot at the Marion Beaver Trophy ...We laid down 50 fast ones, had a little luck, and took home the spoils..
Outboards are faster than "they" think they are...:D
The Church loves getting amongst the big V-8's and raising all hell...pushing the pace until they melt. :skull
Anyway, we will be having services on a daily basis from here on out ...I gotta' get Riv DSC_1928-2.jpg MUDHEN.jpg Outboard%20Church%20logo.jpg Scarlata%202012%20Afterbay%20spl%20259.jpg er Dave to give the Church its own section for us hard core Outboard enthusiasts.

I don't have an outboard that hauled the mail like yours and has that gnarly angry howl, but I love my 200hp 2.5!

I look forward to more posts!

Is the church an outboard shop?

What Motor was on the war canoe and what mods did you guys make ? I don't know much about outboards , could you fill me in on the pros and cons of Merc, Rudes and Johnson's ? Like why you chose the engine you did and why not a merc... Is one "easier" to get more power than the other ?

Congrats on the win BTW :)

You want the outboard "church" section? Just rename this one? What pray tell does the reverend need for his congregation? :D

Great to see you finally showed up! I don't personally own a "Whacker" however, I am deeply moved by the plight of your community.

Whack On! :thumbsup:thumbsup

Congrats to Team War Canoe, and welcome to RDP. I have only ridden in a couple of outboards (Stoker2001's Mirage, his Buddy James with the DCB 19' Daytona, and F-14's 21 Daytona) and they are a blast to ride in. Now I just need to fanagle a ride in the War Canoe and Tunnel T's DCB. :D

Equipt with a bone stock 300xs from Mercury ...We like the Big Merc because it is a reliable and strong motor right out of the box...

The 300xs is worshipped at the Church. We have hammered our big merc for 550 hours of excellent service. It runs at peak rpm all freakin' day long without a wimper...We can "push" the competition into failure due to the Merc's relentless wide open performance. The War Canoe dipped into the 3:58 time zone at the Parker ...and for those of you that have navigated that stretch of river while under race conditions, can respect that that time....it ain't easy to break 4 minutes in water that resembles total chaos....:skull

going through the footage I got a shot of that 4 min lap...you are literally flying across the chop with nothing but the 300xs in the water...sick!

I just did a deal with my dad to get my old 96 21' Daytona hull back, were going to try to pull off a XS by summer 2013 and rig it for the race...;) cant let you guys have all the fun right...:D

What are the rules for O/B's? Thought I had heard it's illegal to mess with newer powerheads for emissions reasons? Is that why there are many older 2.5's running, so they can get away with mods?

Down for the church. Our way underpowered 23' Daytona w/ a 3.6 Johnrude V8 had the piss run out of it for 20+ years before needing a rebuild. Now a 4.0 V8 & 300hp, it still pushes the heavy hull to 70+ mph.

BTW, Congrats on the Win :thumbsup

Thank you for the compliment...

Class 5 consists of Green Outboards...bone stock....

and 2.5 limited to 32 cc heads...1 inch below the bottom of the pad... they can do whatever they want to the rest of the motor.

Stokers 2.5 Merc was a missle...but not many of us will ever know why it was so fast. The War Canoe gave it a good run for its money ...it was a real close run after 300 miles wide open as to which boat was faster...seemed we had it covered in the rough...they had better cornering and possibly acceleration. He was light, we were heavy, the water was the deciding factor...along with some minor issues that came up for both boats.

Class two OB's has its own rules...2.0 liter , carbs, measured at the venturis, no larger than 1.327.... 1 inch below the bottom of the running surface,

Congratulations once again to Steve , Scott, Bill , and Tony.

Youre going down next year guys! I 'm tired of getting lapped by the " War Canoe"... I guess I'll have to scap the Stoker and buy a $1700, 1700# Cougar!

and spend more time in CHURCH praying.

I was pegged at 6300 with the SPINELLI!!! It only came off of that in the turns. If I never win another race in my lifetime again, I will be totally content after winning the Enduro with The Canoe and Scott and Steve

That was a memorable day ...We drove hard, we had some luck, and we pushed the race.... Exactly as we planned to do. It was an epic day for a grassroots team ....and, sometimes it is the bus...sometimes it's the bus driver...:beer

Personally...

I'd like to hear about that hull!

That hull is a 1984 Cougar 19' ....(purchased for $1,700.00 with trailer)
Converted to center steer...
centered gas tanks (54 Gal)
Power Steering
Custom Bottom by Wild Bill Smith ...
Propped by many fine blade Mfg's... (We used 3 props in Parker 300) Spinelli, Hackney, and Hydromotive
Painted by Pioneer Motorsports
Tattooed by Pee Wee
3' shifter in remembrance of "Big Daddy Roth" (and the desire to build a boat that was one off) I think we did...:thumbsup
Tiki Head by McPhair ...

Testing at the Afterbay...fastest water in the west ...:skull

All done mods done by Big Steve, Scott and Wild Bill ...at home in our garages...

Sum bitch...

When I heard Cougar hull, I thought, is this some new small company or something?? lol I guess the year explains a few things!

Sounds like you guys are all privateteers (sp?). To me, thats a hundred times more inpressive than the corprate boats. My hats off to you guys.

Out of the 3 wheels, which one was prefered?

We opened with the 30 Spinelli ...Tony got 25 fast laps out of it...Stoker found 2 cracks..all done. Thanks, Al for the observation!

I used a 3 blade 32 Hackney...fastest of the 3 blades on paper, 106 MPH, on the 2nd leg...

Big Steve used the 30 Hydromotive on the 3rd and final leg...

We have yet to see the actual times, but we think all the blades worked about equally well...We were in the low 4's most of the day.

The Spinelli had 102 MPH in it, and accelerated the best...stable in the rough...
The Hackney had the all time top end, but didnt accelerate as well...a little loose in rough...
The Hydromotive was appx 101 MPH with good acceleration....very stable in the rough water

All in all, they all were excellent blades...each had its traits...can't wait to see the final times...that will tell the whole story. :champagne:

In testing this weekend, we were attempting to best our top speed of 108 MPH with the stock 300xs ....

We put on an adjustable jackplate, compliments our crew chief Wild Bill smith, and proceeded to advance the top end numbers...

BTW: Wild Bill put a new pad on the bottom of the Canoe...lifting the side sponsons off the water at speed...

We ran a 109 MPH on Saturday evening...

Sunday, we came back in the morning and ran a 110 MPH pass

then we lifted the motor and ran 111 MPH ...

lifted it again and ran 112 MPH ...

We ran 112 MPH with 2 different props: 32 Hackney @ 6350 RPM and a 32 Pro ET at 6300 RPM

We pull best speed at 6k, so we need a bigger wheel to really find out what it will do.

We suspect 114 - 115 MPH is still on the table. :champagne:

PS. my home computer does not allow me to post...what's wrong with my computer?????? ANYONE??

The Bullhead AZ Chapter of the Outboard Church has graciously offered their propeller stash to send the War Canoe into the 115 MPH range...

We will be recieving a 33 Hackney 4 blade as well as a custom 33.5 Pro ET 4 blade for our sermon of speed...

We will keep you posted on the final outcome. :champagne:

115 mph with a 300 is THUNDERING!! Most won't even run 100 with single power like that.

Home computer won't allow you to post.. What does it say? Is it logged in to the account?

Then we go for the biggest number ever...

we are at 112 mph...

we want 115 mph...

probably get somewhere in between ...but at least we'd be in the teens. :skull

if we don't get the number we want, we will just put in the new motor. ;) We might need a new jack plate for this set up.

8-12 inch chop...all I could get was 110 MPH.

We will test again when conditions are better...:thumbsup

YOU GUYS will love the 280 power, total different feel than anything else...my 260's were nice, but my 280's are just super sweet, start, idle, torque, top end...just love em'

Going back to Cali again, this is the 3rd run in 2 weeks...not looking good for my Father In law...his Birthday is the 19th but it doesn't look like he will pull through...

I am almost finished with the Parker 300 Video, but still needs a few hours of fine tuning, i have all 3 of my PC's and all the files loaded in my Truck, will work on it all week till its finished...:thumbsup
I know it promised a lot of people it would be finished and I was on track but 2 weeks ago our life changed...

RDP Peeps....Please Say some prayers for my wife's father Joe, this is one awesome man that loved his family so much and gave them everything he could...a real stand up guy who served our great nation in the Vietnam War, was blown up in the Tank he was driving, and never complained a day in his life...a real cool dude that had a Very Bad Stroke...he is fighting to breath at this point and his body is shutting down...

Merry Christmas...very sad...and my beautiful wife is hurting...Were all heading out to be there for him at his bed side

Thanks for understanding about the Video...and I promise you all I will get it finished come hell or high water!

Very nice guys! I always wanted that boat. Is that motor a Drag or a 280 with 260 electronics? Can't wait to see it run.
