WOW! Incredible images PT! Thank you for sharing!

Your images from SEMA are amazing!

It doesn't ALWAYS have to be boating related as a lot of us enjoy the dirt too! Speaking of dirt, do you happen to have any shots of the 1542 car from Parker (Baldi Racing)?

Thank you in advance!

I almost always get shots of the Baldi car because it photos really well. I'll take a look and see if I have any that race.

Edit: This is the last good pic I have of that car. It was at the Vegas to Reno time trials...

This is my first time clicking on this thread. Holy. Shit.

This is as good or better than anything I've ever seen in books, magazines or large prints. Well done sir.

Last month I headed out to Vegas for the Best In The Desert Henderson 250 with Mills Motorsports. It was a great weekend of racing but sadly both of the team's trucks went down with mechanical issues. Even so there were plenty of pics to take!

Is that a fireproof apron in the last pic? If so, what is the purpose?

All fuelers with a pressurized system in best in the desert are required to wear a firesuit...

If I remember correctly, a few years ago, someone got burnt pretty badly at the 1000. Since then, it's been standard for all the major teams (which run the pressurized systems) to have helmets and fireproof suits for the fuel guys. And I've seen a few teams have all the pit guys with helmets on.

That's correct. Normally all the Mills crew is fully covered but, in this pic our race was over and the truck was shut down and they were just transferring fuel out of the tank, so only the fuel man had the suit on.
Here is why those precautions are so necessary...

The hose got caught in the intake as he was pulling the connection and this is what happens. Same thing happened to Tavo Vildosola at the IV 250 this year and a fire broke out. Their crew was on it though and had it out in seconds.

A week after the Henderson 250 I got the call from the boys at Mad Media to cover the SNORE Rage At The River for RaceDezert.com. It was a great opportunity to work for the best in the business in Mad Media. For those that don't know, they are the ones who help produce the XP1K videos. They also are the one's who put on the UTV World Championship and the historical Mint 400. Hopefully I'll be adding some more races for them to my roster in '16!

While I was shooting the drop off Tuba Arts was out there shooting this chick in the freezing cold and dirt I thought it was funny so I grabbed a pic. He had just gotten done yelling at me for being in his shot, so I told him he was in mine. He wasn't amused for some reason. Honestly John Tuba does some great desert racing videos and is one of the better shooters you'll find at the races :thumbsup

Last weekend I had nothing going on so the girlfriend and I went down to Parker to do some camping and get some pics of the Parker 250 that was going on. It was fun to shoot a race with no real agenda. We camped out on Shae Rd and I got up early to check out the bikes as they came charging down the wash. At most races I don't get to shoot the bikes because other duties with the team get in the way, so it was cool to get a chance to shoot some grassroots dirt bike racing. They also ran the UTV race that day. It's amazing how much that class has grown in a short amount of time.

I was out in SoCal this week doing some social media work for a client and got a chance to tack on a shoot for Maxedoutmarine with a hot rod that they are selling. I love doing these kinds of shoots. :thumbsup

Well, the Parker 425 was here and gone and there was some great race action! The Mills team had some trouble in qualifying that kept them from posting a time and they started at the back of the pack but, at the end of the day the were able to salvage a 15th out of 49 trophy trucks and a 5th in Spec TT. Not the best start to the season but, a solid foundation to build on.
Here are some of my shots from the weekend. :thumbsup

Well, the opportunity to shoot in the desert keeps presenting itself so I will keep shooting it! This weekend was the Polaris RZR UTV World Championship held up in Laughlin, NV. Mad Media is a production company based out of San Diego, CA and have produced videos such as the Polaris XP1K videos and now own the historic Mint 400 desert race. They are pretty much the pinnacle of visual production in the off road world, so when they contacted me to join them to shoot stills for the UTV Worlds my answer was an enthusiastic yes! It is impressive to watch a group like this work and I am learning as much as I can from them. From the footage the captured this weekend they will produce an hour long TV show which will be aired on national TV. For my part, the still I captured will be used for promotional materials such as programs, magazine ads, banners, and the like. They will also be featured in various articles for UTVUnderground.com, which for those who don't know is like RDP for UTV's. Anyway, here are a few of the pics I gathered over the weekend...

On a side note, I want all the inmates to know that I haven't forgotten about the boating scene. There will be boating pics. Oh yes, there will be boating! DS is just around the corner and there is a chance I may be taking a few pics for that deal :D

Anyone race in this series? Curious what the difference is between the 4 seat cars and the two seat cars. Different classes or does one out perform the other?

In BITD, it's personal preference on if you want to build a 2 or 4 seat car. 2 seat is lighter which is faster obviously but the idea behind the 4 seat is that the wheel base allows the suspension to work better in the desert...

Yeah... Cuz that's all it takes. [emoji52]

Actually in the short course production classes it doesn't take much else. Having said that, it's racing and it highly addictive so yeah it's a one way trip to the poor house [emoji16]

Time to buy a cage and go racing Hammy

I'm going to look into racing the RZR. Hopefully there are races local to me. I'd like to have a "dedicated" race car though..

Look into the WORCS series. Seems to be a lot of production racing with those guys.

Well, things have been downright crazy for me lately! My last post was a month ago and this is the first chance I've gotten to do any updates on this thread. A couple weeks ago I made my way down to the ol Bluewater to check out the Parker Ski Races. I ran into OCPhotographics and Stryderphoto there and had a chance to pick their brains a bit. When it comes to circle boats or ski racing, these two dudes are the go to photogs for the best images. They've got their program wired tight at these races. Nonetheless I got out and shot a couple races. It felt good to be shooting some boating and river action after all the desert time I've been logging lately!

Here is the link to the gallery for the ski races... http://www.tommygunimages.com/p577472181
