2 things...... I’m only here 4-6 times a year, but........

1- There is a TON of debris in the river! BIG SHIT!!! What causes this? I nearly smoke a log tonight, and there is WAY more reeds, sticks, etc. than I’ve ever seen.

2- There were LOTS of people stuffed in the sand bar at the mouth of the river. I run the reeds @Dirtbag taught me the line a few years back and I’ve been plowing up there all winter long for since then. All were well to the AZ side. I know 2 are members here, but every time up and down the last 3 days, there’s a boat or 2 over there in chin deep water. Is there a path over there typically, or what’s the deal?

We’ve had some decent rains here recently, enough to get the washers flowing good, and the fluctuation of water levels carries all the debris.

The mouth entrance was much different 5-7 years ago.

21’ boats can still rip wherever they want. But the bigger boats can’t use the old line.

Technically they could but you gotta be drafting 12-18” in those shallow spots [emoji6]

Don't have a clue why people are taking a different route up the river, but IMHO the debris if from the massive level fluctuations in the past few weeks. Bureau of Reclamation had the area below Davis Dam down to a trickle, then really upped the flow. In just a few days Havasu went from a little below 445' to slightly above 449', now it's back around 447.5' to 448'. It usually takes at least a week to clear up. I saw some pictures of some of the big stuff, Crazy. It might also be caused by wake boats around Needles.😂

I agree! ! Yesterday the river was at record levels and more debris than I’ve ever seen. Pieces of docks , huge branches and full blow 14-16” Diameter x 20 foot long trees floating down !

A ton of shit is on its way into the lake.

Debris gathers on the banks of the river. Logs are stranded as water drops and the river cleans up. When it rises, the debris and logs are back in the water. We see this all the time in the NorCal Delta.

Lake pleasant a few weeks ago had a ton of wood debris floating around in the middle of the lake. I had to keep a close on the water ahead to avoid it.

I could be wrong but I don't think a drop of Colorado snow melt has reached the Sea of Cortez in 20 years.

March 2014, the flow into the Sea of Cortez was near what it was before the dams were built. In an experiment by water engineers, several years worth of Mexico's water was stored in Lake Mead, and released pretty much all at once in a controlled flood, meant to simulate the natural flooding of the River. It re-energized the Delta and washed away decades of silt and dead areas. The plan still has many unanswered questions, but it did re-vitalize the area for a while.

You might notice Lake and River levels a little higher, not to mention dirtier in the South Basin and on the Strip, as they were dumping a butt load of water out of Alamo through the Bill WIlliams River. The artificial flood was to last from April 15-20. Flows today (Monday) were over 1,010 CFS (normal 740) and water released was 266% of normal.
