Just returned from an 11 day trip over there for business. We spent 2 days up in Punjab and even visited the India - Pakistan border. We had a driver take us all over to meetings and then a little sight seeing. The way they drive there is absolutely insane. Lines on the road mean nothing, they should have saved the paint.

Here's a 5 minute clip of one ride that was 2 hours long when we went to tour a University. This is a short glimpse of the rides we had. I'm in the front seat filming, there's 5 of us + the driver in this toyota matrix like car. Action starts around 27 seconds.

Here's another short one. 11 seconds in is a close call.

How many family members can fit on a motorbike? The rules of the USA are way too strict. Pause it at 6 seconds.

Memories! Lol. India is the WORST!!! the squalor is insane. The smell is disgusting! Hard to believe doctors come from this shit hole country. I've been to Mumbai and Bangladesh attached to a British military unit temporarily. I think I threw up everyday from either being down wind of pure foulness or the food. :thumbsdown

That's actually what I was expecting and it was better than I expected. Punjab was rough, but we had some good meetings there so it made it better. Also went to the border which I now know the true meaning of minority. We were the only 3 white people out of thousands.

We were only in Mumbai 1 night so I cannot attest to much of that. Delhi was eye opening for me. People living on streets with kids, simply on the sidewalk outside our hotel was heart wrenching. We were in Hyderabad the longest, 4 days and things were nice at our hotel. We were going to the sports arena every day so I didn't see much more than that and the route between the hotel. We ventured the furthest visiting 3 universities in Punjab.

We also traveled on 3 domestic airlines and all the planes in India were nicer/newer than the planes that I have flown on in the US. Air India had us on a Dreamliner 787 for a 40 minute flight from Amirstar to Delhi. That's like flying from PHX to Vegas on a 787... overkill. lol

In this last pic the guy to the left of Khali is Deepesh. He works with us and was the man portrayed in the film Million Dollar Arm. He was the Indian that watched over and assisted the 2 ball players. The guy in the yellow turban is a major police commissioner in Punjab. We had a full escort and security when we were with him, felt safe.

There are nicer areas but even those aren't nice. Lol. It's been 20 yrs since my time there. Maybe it's changed. Slum dog millionaire was a very accurate depiction of the India I experienced.

It's still a 3rd world country, but it has come a long way the last 10 years. It's definitely emerging. We stayed at some very nice hotels, Leela, Metropolitan, Hyatt and they were around $100/night and considered 4.5 stars. Food at hotels was decent.

Now Dubai... that was a different experience. We spent 2 days there on the way back. Dubai kicks our butt in everything. It's all very nice, but it's all very new. Everything there is less than 10-12 years old.

There was a terrorist attack near there 2 days after we were there. It was the only place we felt very uncomfortable and like we shouldn't be there. The changing of guard every afternoon is a big deal, that's what we went for.

Dubai is the shit as far as what it looks like. Spent 4 days there on our way to Kuwait / Iraq. High dollar shit everywhere! The only thing keeping me from ever going back is the whole Muslim thing. I just can't do it.

That didn't look so bad, but driving in third world countries, or Itay, can definitely be crazy.
