Just chilling today after doing Thanksgiving dinner and cleaning the cars yesterday, I decided to pull out an all-time classic movie, and to pay homage to the late, great Malcolm Smith - On Any Sunday.
It’s crazy how little support these guys had, no semis full of extra bikes and parts, a full machine shop, these guys worked with whatever they could fit in their vans or station wagons.

… Was around a bunch of those guys… Both when I lived in La Tuna Canyon and Mammoth Lakes… Particularly the Checkers motorcycle club… They just did it all with their handtools… At the time I really did not realize what I was being exposed to🤷🏽‍♀️… didn’t ride with them, but occasionally I could hop on Bernie Coynes new Husky works bike… Which I think was an eight speed???

Friend of mine back in that day used to race flat track. He talked about three guys in a van with bikes. They would pick who was going to run for the front and who would stay back and block. If they didn’t finish in the money, they had no money to get home. Day of the privateers!🏁
