I suggest anyone order a drink from the bartender Hana at the Bluewater.

If it's been 2 years, 2 months, 2 weeks, or 2 hours since you last ordered a drink from her, she'll remember what your drink was.

Late summer mid-week late nites at Fox's. So relaxing to just hang out after a long day or week taking care of the kids.
And the food seems to always be good at Fox's.

Sometimes ya can even see the owner Spencer do burnouts with his V8 motorcycle.

Kennies Desert bar runs never get old.

Sunday nites on the way home, we always stop off at the Kobe Steak House in PS.

It's kinda weird, for the in route part I have all sorts of things... Like "lil landmarks" I guess that turn one long drive into about 10 short ones. Not sure why but I really look forward to seeing them each trip. Instead of trying to describe them.. I'm heading out tomorrow I'll just take some pics en route! :)

Don't know why but always stop in at the Chevron in Ludlow and buy the kids ice cream. They've got a sweet selection of DVDs for the road!

On the way home, we always hit up Tommy's Burgers in Bartstow! :D

"Gus's Really Good Fresh Jerky Stand", between the Railroad Tracks and the 40 coming from Vegas. I don't know why but i always seem to stop there going one direction or the other, nothing like powering down some jerky on the drive!

Kobe Steak House is the best....one of my favorite places to eat the world....I could never drive home from there after eating and drinking...luckily, Mom has a guest house in Palm Desert.

My dad's brother in-law lives in Barstow; they claim that, the Del Taco out there beats any other Del Taco hands down. I cant remember if it’s the one off E MOUNTAIN VIEW ST or N 1ST AVE, but one of them happens to be one of the original remaining 4 still open.

We hit the Del Taco near the Flying J in route to Dumont.
Always good.

Growing up my parents would give $1 to the first kid who spot the "P" Kept us quiet and busy. Im pretty suren it made the drive after turning off desert center much better (for them). Now that the P is faded its much harder to see :(

In N Out at Ramon road was aways the stop on the way out for us and on the way home.

The bathrooms at Desert Center are always a treat for a "first timer" who cant hold it anymore :D

Thats only after stopping at the Del Taco in Lynwood, the best fast food in the desert!!!:)

del taco on lynwood.....the best....the chicken soft tacos weight 2 pounds and well worth $1.79.....It is run by the original owners...if you eat inside you can see pictures of all the different styles of del taco buildings over the years...pretty interesting.....The first del taco ever opened was in yermo...still standing but its a burger joint...off the 15 and yermo exit...kinda cool to drive by and visit

interesting is that mr bell of taco bell used to work for del taco...then decided to start taco bell

damn I am hungry now

for quite a few years I drove out to the river with my buddy's dad. he was with the sheriffs department for 30 years and worked every nook and cranny of the desert all the way to the edges of the county. The stories on the drive out were always fascinating. One that sticks out in my mind starts with this huge rock pile on the side of the 15 out by barstow. there was some guys out riding motorcycles in the desert and they found some human remains "bones" on the side of a dirt road. they called the authorities and the investigation began. after poking around a bit they were told to go talk to rock pile Bob. this guy lived in a little cave in the rock pile. He was pretty ripe "said it kept the coyotes away" so they tell rock pile Bob about the remains and ask if he knows anything. his reply was a shocker "Oh yeah that's Jim, he's been out there for a while now. turns out that there was these two brothers living in a shack out there one was about 14 the other was older and his guardian. the 14 year old had been walking out to Jim's place "like 15 miles" and having man boy relations. the older brother finally caught wind and went out and killed Jim and left him on the side of the road. here's the kicker the older brother killed him out of jealousy turns out that him and the little brother had their own man boy thing going on as well. every time I drive by that pile of rocks I think about rock pile Bob. Out there in the desert When the TVs broke the kids hide. the stories are endless and there are little landmarks like the rock pile all the way out.

For years and still til this day when our crew rolls thru Amboy we stop for a couple of road sodas, nothin' like Amboy at night; a couple of times had to take a lil' nap out there because a couple turned into an empty cooler. Have to roll down the windows when crossing the bridges; Parker is the best but Laughlin ain't half bad, I love the smell of the river. When you just arrive, get out of the car, and crack the first cold one of the night; that might possibly be the best tasting beer until the next arrival. :beer

So did Bob live on the northbound rock pile or the southbound rock pile?

My dad had a client who was a CHP officer on a canine unit based in Barstow, he patroled between Barstow and Nevada on the I-15 and I-40.....which I guess are two of the major east/west drug transport routes out of Southern California.

They had a "profile of several types of vehicles" that he would stop all the time, for minor violations, and most people would give concent to a search (not knowing he had a drug sniffing dog back in his patrol car).:smackhead

Once they have "concent" to search, out comes "fido", and they are up sh*t creek......pot, meth, coke, herion....major busts that don't really make the news, but he had a wall full of pics at his house, showing all the drugs found in various "safe" places in the car/track/trailer.:nono

This is an example of what not to do on the way to the river......:D

When traveling from Cali, all the spots of interest start outside of Riverside....first was normally the Big Boy in Calimesa...next was Morongo Casio or the Windmills...

Next was Dylan Road....after passing there you know you are really getting close.....then Chiriaco, Desert Center....the turn near the Joshua Tree sign, the next turn before 62 turn off, Rice, the last set of Railroad tracks, Vidal...and the Big River cause its 5 miles from there..

Driving from AZ, it Tonopah (last gas / food for a awhile)....Wickenburg, Quartzite, and that's pretty much it cause it is a pretty short drive...:)

The 1st beer is always the best beer when arriving at the river....

But,, there is an off-road riding/camping area just as you drive through the sanctuary.

Chiraco is a must stop for the wife. Damfino,, she prefers it over all the other stops.

Some of the shit people do amazes me. You know alcohol and or drugs was a major factor in that decision. 4 guys sitting around on a weeknight, "hey I got any idea, lets burn down that shoe tree on Rice Rd!" Seriously WTF, sure it would've been cool to see, but there's was just not point to it!

I agree every time I order from that Del Taco...I think to myself why can't all Del Tacos be like this one. When you order a burrito you get a burrito not a toothpick.:D

Stopping at the first casino, and putting $5 bucks on red. When it hits, you know it’s going to be a good weekend!
