Well I think it's time to start my build thread. This is my second heavy round keel barge the first was a 1975 and this is a 79. I fell in love with the deck when I was a kid and even though it will never be the fastest thing on the water I have learned enough about them to make it respectable.

Very cool. Can't wait to follow the build. I have a special place in my heart for the double step eliminators.

Ditto, my project slowed down to a stop for now too.

Mocking up=love this foam engine block ( I rented it from a hot rod shop for $25. ) I tore this thing apart like the first day home and needed to see how things fit since changing a few items.
I was planing on powder coating all of the aluminum for the sake of easy maintenance. What say Yee?

Where did you find the foam Block to rent, do they rent a complete foam 454?
How Firm is the foam, hard enough for some torque?
That would be so cool, I'll be ready for a mock engine in June

What did you decide to do about closing the prop wash gap on your Cav plates?

this is what my Campbell has, It's just 1/4" Plate bolted in the bottom from the recess

Rented it from American Pastimes on auburn blvd for $ 25. Yes rigid =all holes in block gave thread inserts.

Looking good, I feel itchy looking at it. LOL
You will love those angle aluminum to mount your floor to.
I did the same thing to my Campbell.

That strut is going nowhere, you could do a tug a war and it would never have a problem.
