When we were looking at it last time right before we decided to make an offer it was pulled off the market and we were told something about the tax issue and he was fighting it in court.. I don't know the outcome, but then we saw it back on the market. Maybe it is a good thing we didn't get it..

Just wanted to give an update. With all the back and forth on the "pie lot" we decided to kick that one to the curb for good.. The owner has too many issues and since that last buyers pulled out he has raised the price.. He can keep it... I wish a lot had opened up on the water, but I guess that was just not in our plans.... Sooooo my husband and I found an acre lot in Havasu with a awesome view of the lake. We should start building our house in February.. I am super excited.. Thank you all for your help and advise...

I bought on the river in bullhead in 2012, did a remodel and added a pool, actually more work than what i was planning to do.
we thought about havasu but decided against it as we wanted to be on the water

Pros
Its Arizona not california
its on the water
Good weather
lower cost compaired to ca
had great neighbors both full timers
casinos close buy

Cons
Snowbirds... but they help keep the town alive (watch out they drive like shit)
Wind and dust
terrible internet ( the loca electric col is gearing up to run fiber optics)
Terrible neighbors on one side ,other not too bad barking dog
SAVING THIS FOR LAST
River moths... they weren't to bad in 2012 now they can be unbearable
(they were planted by the city of feed the fish , now they can't get rid of them... good going

Medical Care
limited choice of doctors.... a lot are not that good and the ones that are booked pretty solid and hard to get in with
for serious treatment the people who can afford to go to las vegas, flagstaff, phoenix
one of my old neighbors moved to phoenix just for that reason........its a b''tch to get old

if you are going to move to bull head you have to be on the river or off the parkway, the old parts are pretty scetchey at times

there is not a lot for sale on the river, 4 houses $$$ last count 3 or 4 lots

Dead on on accurate. We had a weekend house over in Holiday Shores on a street full of retirees so it is pretty safe. We bought a full time house over in Paloverde Meadows with a pool, a private launch ramp and beach just for the residents. Love it here.

Thanks for all the Pros and Cons.. HA HA HA we will be coming from CA so they all drive like crap out here.. For my husbands medical we will drive into CA where his doctors are.. I am still researching top notch cancer centers closer to us. But this at least gives us an excuse to stop and see family and friends.. At least until he is done with treatment then they can high tail it out to us...

I cant wait to start building.. Still sad we are not right on the water, but we have a great view of the lake from our backyard and this is saving us money so we will be able to travel.. My husband and I really want to go to Italy and Croatia..

Sorry.. Not sure if we are equestrian area. The lot we bought is up on Kicking Horse..
You are not very far from us.
Definitely some nice view lots on Kickinghorse. Many with big lots due to the hillsides.
The equestrian area is just up a bit towards mountains from your street, up Yucca and across Kiowa leads you to it.
Enjoy the build and views. Depending on where your lot is, I might be able to see it🙂
Hope all is going well with your husband👍

My wife and I have been discussing a Havasu lot now for a build/retirement later. We are thinking about taking a Saturday to go check some areas out. I don’t want to bother River Diva at the moment because I don’t know how serious we are.

Where are some good areas to drive through to look at lots right now?

I really do not know the area all that good.. We started by looking on Realtor.com for a home then we started to look for lands in the areas of the homes we liked.. Once we picked out a few lots we drove into Havasu for the day and walked all the lots with a note pad and drove around the neighborhoods.. once we stood on our lot we knew it was the one for us.. We put an offer in that day..

When we decided to build/buy anew we pretty much drove around on every street and walked through/on 100s of homes & lots until that ah-ha moment slapped us.
Honestly, you just kind of have to drive around and see what "feels" right for you. The only areas I'd avoid is down near any of the industrial/commercial areas or where multi-unit housing(or duplex types) exist. If peace and quiet is the goal then higher up the hill might fit better.
We kinda fell in love with the central part, easy to go towards either end of town or essentially straight down to downtown. I'm literally dead center between the two Ace Hardware stores. Some prefer the north end, others the south, some desire a gated community. I wouldn't say any one is better since everyone has certain needs or desires.
The process for us was both fun and exhausting but in the end we couldn't hardly be happier.

If your thinking about a lot outside of a development, it could be anywhere. They are getting harder to find and all the best deals are being bought be the builders through their realtor connections. I don't think it would be out of line to ask Stacy or some realtor to show you the the best deals and areas. Like Ziggy said drive the town and get a feel for it, and unless your really lucky you're going to need more than one Saturday.😁 Personally I like lots that back to BLM or have Arroyos between neighboring streets.

Lol yeah, one Saturday won't likely do it. We already had a house there so for us it was about upgrading to a view. Our process took better part of a year with a Realtor who enjoyed exploring the homes too.

Took us 3 weekends to find the right fit. House, pool, big side yard. There out there, you just have to find the one that talks to you. Lots are getting up there in price though. We bought in a culdesac. This looks to be a nice lot.

OMG I know how you feel.. We made several rides from CA to AZ just to look at houses then turn around and go home... I thought our realtor was going to strangle us.. We looked at so many homes. But yes as soon as we stood on that lot, our lot it was a YES this is it moment.... Plus our daughter is 1.5 miles away from us.. Will be perfect once we get grandkids..
