Found a deal on a dually I couldn’t pass up. So now I’m starting to out fit or for desert season. We will be doing a lot more dry camping and trips to Glamis this year, and this truck will work well for us.

Im ashamed to say I went with a Chevy as I’m a die hard Cummins guy.....but it’s what I got.

truck came with goose neck hitch already so thinking of going with the B&W companion hitch so I still have a useable bed.
Anyone have any feedback on this setup?

Lastly I want to get one of those sliding tonneau covers. Have no idea what are the good ones and which are the junk ones. But would like a lockable and secure area to store our junk and keep it out of the weather.

So now it’s up to you inmates to give me your experiences and Input in what’s the best routes to take.
If anyone ha any performance upgrades I’m starting to go down that rabbit hole too.
If this were a Cummins I would know exactly what to do and what to buy. But being my first dirtymax. I don’t want to practice in my self. 😂😂

I'm confused.... Did you get rid of the Freightliner? Why would you down grade to a chevy?

Congrats nice truck.

@TPC said something about rubber bump stops over air bags. I will try and find the thread. I think @Wmc put some on his truck to pull his 5th wheel.

Freightliner is a family truck, still use it on occasion, but it’s kind of a hassle to go get and it’s getting used more and more often so scheduling gets to be a mess sometimes. Due to some things I have going on I have to buy a truck anyways so decided I would buy a truck that could tow my trailer.

I have the B&W companion hitch for that same year truck and it works great. I am going to get the same set up when I get my new truck. You can take the jaws off the base which makes it a little easier to move around. Its adjustable front to back and up and down so you should be able to get it set up right where you need it.

2012 duramax and it has been good. The lml is a fairly good motor. There is plenty of discussion about the cp4 fuel pump by bosch, that was changed from a cp3 in 2011. I added a lift pump and I put lubrication in the fuel when I fuel up. So far no problems, but it is the next area to get my attention. As for performance, that depends what you want to accomplish. I went over a speed bump once and somethings accidentally fell off. Now it breathes better and is fun to drive.

Congrats! Same truck I sold. It was a towing beast, especially once deleted!

Yah should’ve bought yours.
It was an awesome truck, I just wasn't using it anymore. Felt bad watching it sit, and those dually's take up some serious driveway realestate. Every time my wife struggles to pull our boat up the ramp with our current 2wd she cusses me out for selling it 😁

There is a company called proformance diesel out of Bakersfield. They have these trucks pretty dialed in. Have been very helpful the few times I have talked to them. They designed a coil conversion that works with my cognito system. It really has my attention. But spending that money after already spending money on the cognito has me holding off for now.

That’s the same setup I ran.
No complaints at all.

I’d hook it up and check how much squat before I added bags.

a chevy? glamis? WTF DID YOU DO WITH BILDO? I know this is an imposter!!!

Was looking for a Ram. And happened to talk to @PHOTOGLOU and he hooked me up with this gem. Doing a few things like adding leather touching up paint, updating stereo and the items listed and will have a capable tow pig with today’s conveniences and paid half as much cash for it.
Just got back from getting the headlights refinished and all scratches fixed.

Use some Renew Protect Black and Gloz on all the black plastic trim and it'll look like new for a couple of years and isn't like the other dressings that are dirt magnets.

Truck is still dirty from being in paint shop. Gets tint, detail and leather next week. I have aids that stuff on all my older vehicles and love it.

Bildo what’s are your early impressions of this truck, coming from Ram/CTD’s?

Especially would like to hear your take on how the engines make power...I find the V8’s seem quicker/more eager to rev when unloaded.

I have an 07 2500 LBZ, actually its for sale in the classified because i need a 3500 dually also. Well at least thats what i keep telling my self. I would put a lift pump, FASS or Airdog, and get a tune. Kennedy Diesel is who i used and was really good, shipped the computer to him, told him what i wanted and everything the truck had done to it and got it back in a couple days. Safe tow tune woke it up, and it was stout before. Coolant filter system is not a bad upgrade either. I have airbags on mine, its a must with a 2500, couldn't hurt to have on that dually.

Can’t say yet. Bought the truck sight unseen and haven’t driven it yet.

You will find post 2011, the frame and suspension was completely revamped. They handle some.weight before showing it. I was trying to find photos of mine running some decently heavy toy boxes. Guess they didnt make it to this phone. But, no bags on a 2500 its towed triple axel toy boxes and a 27 foot toy hauler, with the hauler, bed and cab loaded. It has more of a natural sag now. I need to take some pre load out of the bars when I get new tires and alignment.

I bought my Silverado the same way, from a dealer in Michigan.

In talking to my dmax friends. This year is the year to have, I was told to jump on it. So I did and am making the truck my own.

Decided I’m going with the B&W companion as it’s already set up with the gooseneck set up.

had jay add leather to it as we are an active family and always have our dogs with us. Really impressed with the katzkin leather kit.
