I don’t know what your trailer weighs but my toyhauler scaled loaded at almost 18.5k and my 2015 F350 didn’t need bags. I can’t imagine the Chevy is much different.

Love the companion, good choice. Beautiful truck and congrats [emoji106]

Thank you.
My trailer is about 16k empty. I’m guessing 20-21k loaded for camping.

I have been toying with the idea of not doing bags and towing the trailer first. I can tell the truck was used to tow before and it doesn’t have bags so thinking I might be fine.

Nothing wrong with adding bags. Zero downside beyond the cost to adding them. If you think the trailer is north of 20k I’d likely add them. That’s a big trailer.

My 06 came with a 95gal transfer tank. Originally planned on taking it out to gain space in the bed. But with price differences for diesel From NV it stays now. Hurts to drop the cash to fill but can go over 1500 miles without needing fuel.

I've read many positive reviews on the Shine Supply Trim Shield. Is a little pricey.

On that note, I use shine supply trim shield and ceramic coating after. But they also trim.paint bu shine supply, if it's too far gone.

The wider springs and frame upgrade really made these trucks handle some weight in comparison

I've had the same bottle for 2 years. Once I treated it and coated it, I've hardly had to use it.

Shine supply in general can be a little pricey, but their products are, imo, the best I have tried.

If you have instagram by chance, I would give them a follow. The owner is a stand up guy and not only will he explain the products and what makes them different. Then he shows techniques and what to do with what products. I've been using them for over 2 years and I've converted many of my friends and made believers out of them.

My understanding is, he's coming out with a marine ceramic coating.

Had One in my old truck and loved it. But want to keep bed space and am doing a rolling tonneau cover on this one so don’t think it’s going to happen.

You could put a smaller auxiliary tank in the “dead space” under the tonneau cover box. That bed space becomes almost useless when you put the rolling cover in.

I'm not on Instagram but my wife is. Will have to check out Shine Supply on there. I know quite a few detailers in the area do use Shine Supply products.

Had some time today so knocked out a few little projects on the tow pig. My son had his drivers license first today so ended up taking the whole day off. (He passed!!)

First project was the bed mounted trailer plug. Quick job maybe 20 minutes.

Second project was the rolling bed cover. This was also easier than I thought it would be. This is a huge benefit as now we can keep contests secure and dry but also have easy access to the 5the wheel hitch when we need it.

I like that. May have to look into one. I hate worrying about things escaping. Even with a net.

change the fuel pump before it goes bad new style has composite inside instead of steel . If it goes bad with steel type the whole fuel system has to be change because of metal shards in whole system with composite insides just the fuel pump needs to be replaced. had 3 2013 dmaxes 2 of the 3 had pump failure 118000 and 140000 miles

That’s the plan. Currently she only has 50k miles. So not too stressed about it. Will also be adding a lift pump.

Everything seems to be good to go. Installed the airbags yesterday. Hitch today and went and hooked up the trailer to make sure everything fit and worked without a problem. Only thing missing is a camping trip 😂 I did order bilsteins for the truck as well so will be doing those next weekend.

If it doesn’t have them yet, and depending on where you camp at Glamis, valve stem extensions on the inside tires can be really handy😉👌
Where we camp airing down is mandatory.

Call up Inglewood trans in Fullerton. Talk to Mike L and see if you need to do a transgo jr. shift kit in that year Allison. It's a couple hundred bucks but worth it. I have 213k on my 06. Original Allison 6 speed. I'd probably do his trans cooler too. I tow in tow haul/manual. Nice truck!

The new allison line pressure is controlled electronically. So mine is tuned to increase line pressure like a trans go kit.

Yea i also have his tuning etc. great company to deal with.
I agree. Thats who did my calibrating as well. They did my trans also. I'm not easy on my truck at all, so far it has handled everything I have put it through.

Lol. Need... some may say so. Want, definitely. In all seriousness I had issues with the factory cold side pipe blowing off the intercooler. So pipes and intake were inevitable for me.

The downpipe is good for the egts, the intercooler piping is a factory weak link, the bridge just helps after you delete egr cleaner straighter run from the intercooler.

something worth mentioning I thought of yesterday, when I was changing mine due to the fires. These did not come with a cabin air filter. You have to cut it and buy the retro fit piece. Since it's used, something I would check. Its easy to do. The evaporator gets full of debris and crap without a filter. Just a thought for you.

Thanks. Will check it out.

Towed the trailer for the first time w couple weeks ago. Truck rides amazing. Power is nice (could always use more).
I have a company truck so this one sits covered in the driveway most of the time.

Glad to hear you like it. As for power, big speed bump helps with that...😆😆

But the question is....did you NEED airbags? Or, was it more of a nice to have them and take the load off? Because I found my 2500 handled some weight without bags. Granted nothing as large as your trailer has been hooked up to mine, but those toy boxes were heavy.

I ran the bags at at differing pressures. 65 psi seems to be the happy spot. It towed just fine with no pressure but was on the overload springs so the ride wasn’t the greatest.

not needed. But definitely helped.

You where very smart getting a DRW. If I had a dollar for every SRW truck with a toy hauler and a flatbiller behind the wheel on it side or upside down I've seen, smh.

So I have been going back and forth on this.

I have realized the truck needs some tuning . But can’t decide if I do a 50 state legal set up or go full delete?

I know the full delete is better but don’t want to deal with the smog issues, and finding a “guy” hassle every two years.

Anyone done the 50 state tune and kept all the smog BS?

On my 2013, i did a 70hp tow tune and had the exhaust fall off. Other than that, 100% stock down to the air cleaner. Ran absolutely amazing, power for days.
by exhaust it looks like the only thing under there is the dpf/Urea system?

I deleted from the downpipe back, ran nothing but a muffler. Kept the tip stock and tucked high so it looked factory, nothing flashy.

I have the complete stock setup off my '13 dually, you should get it and make a "sleeper" delete kit out of it! Straight pipe thru the DPF and Cat, fake the funk.....

Thats correct that stock system is the dpf and urea system. I connect to the down pipe. At one point I had compliant mapping. Definitely a power increase, but I also noticed an increase in regeneration. Although supposedly they have a handle on that now.
