No but that sounds like an almost stock comparison by re-gear standards. What's the stock ratio and what year tundra with what motor are you talking about? How much weight are you planning on towing, in what conditions and how far? A lot depends on these answer as to whether it would be recommended or not. If not looking for recommendations but just people's experiences then I guess we don't need this info for what you want to hear. Either way I'm not sure the towing power would be as affected as the braking power with such large tires compared to stock. I've towed with a 5.3 and 5.7 up the Laughlin grade with about 6K lbs and stock tires and they both sucked. I've also towed with a twin turbo Duramax and my current stock LML and both were worlds of difference over the gasser.

My 07 Tundra is 5.7 ratio 4:30 stock will be towing 27 cat, I guess the boat and trailer probably weight about 6-6.5k lbs. I mostly tow from IE to Havasu maybe lake Mohave once in awhile.
I am thinking to lift it and have 2 options
1 - 7" BDS kit with 37" M/T and I might have to re-gear to 4:88 because of towing.
2 - 4" lift with 35" might not need re-gear.

Depends on the actual wheel tire weight. The BFG ko2 37's weigh 69lbs plus a 20-30lb wheel lets say. That is 100 a corner. Some stock 20's with tires weigh that much.

I just got cooper tires for my tundra 10 lbs lighter than toyo.

And they are quiet and cheaper

Those STT Pro's are supposed to be a really good tire.

How is the road noise compared to the Toyo MT?

I'm a fan of white letters, I get a lot of crap for it, but I think it looks good. Props to you for bucking the trend.

Back to the original topic 37" tires you should definitely regear.

35's not so much. But You'll gain back 6th gear.

I will go with 35" tires. What lift you have on your crzy2bealive?
I am thinking Skyjacker 6" with rear full leaf pack. Here is the front bumper of my Gen1 Tundra Finished1.jpg
Once the lift is done I will try to tackle the bumper for my Gen2

I have a pieced together kit

Front:

Maxtrack spindles 3" lift
Bilsteins 5100 middle setting 2.5"

Total of 5.5"

Rear
Icon rear lift back 1.5"

About to add coach builders 3" shackles for an additional 1.5"

Should be a total of 3" when it's done

Pick a quality 37 that doesn't weigh a ton and you will be fine with the 4.30's

What size wheel?

Those huge tires are the worst thing you can do to a truck if you want to tow.......

Most 37's measure at 36.5. Most are D and E rated as well. The trick is running a 100lb or less wheel tire combo. 37 is the largest while retaining function.

I love 17" rim but looks like not all 17" will fit the Tundra also the Skyjacker 6" lift requires 4.5" bs so I pulled the trigger on the SJ 6" with rear leaf pack and a set of Mickey Thomson 18x9 with 35" federal tires. I will see how the truck with 35" tows the boat and go from there. If it doesn't work out 4:88 is an option.

Federal Tires are Taiwan's finest garbage. Cooper, BFG, or Toyo is what you want for reliable tires that perform.

It will go well for a few thousand miles. Then be loud, probably separate a tire, and use your imagination after. Federal tires are pure shit.

Looks great! I am glad you went with way better rubber. The MTZ's are a great all around. They look sick also! Congrats man!

If I want to do a leveling kit and maybe larger tires/rims on my Tundra does it void any or all of the warranty?

"It depends" on a lot, including the dealership you're working with. Your entire warranty isn't affected, just potentially the warranty covering parts related to the mods.

You should generally be ok...but if certain suspension parts are failing they may not be covered.

It's just like doing any other mod...

Looks good. Now you just need the supercharger. I added the supercharger to my Tundra recently and it puts a huge smile on my face every time I push down on the skinny peddle.

The lift is completed with new wheels and tires

Re-gear to 4.88 and SC is on the wish list and I am waiting for the river trip to see how the truck performs. Also TRD SC is discontinued looks like it had to be done with outside TOY dealer for the installation.

I bought mine after they were discontinued. I found a dealer that had a few left in stock.

I had a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 with a 12" lift on 38 inch tires with 4:88 gears. Once I re-geared it, it helped but it struggled going up hills. I then sold it and got a 2013 Tundra IMG_4080.jpg I put a 4 inch lift with 35 inch tires and kept the 4:30 gear and I have no issues at all. The only bad thing about the Tundra is that it sucks gas worse then my GMC did. IMG_6398.jpg

do some 37" tires vary in weight that much?

I would assume they all are very similar in weight.

I looked on websites, a lot of tire specs but can't seem to find the weight of individual tires.

Yes they vary. Take a 37/12.50/17 BFG All Terrain compared to the Toyo MT. 68lbs vs 97lbs. 29lbs per corner.

wow! that is a big difference.

Are the newer KO's a light tire or are the Toyos heavy?

I have a35x12.50R17 Nitto Grappler on my F250, thinking about doing 37's next but don't want to add too much weight.

Maybe BFG's should be my tire choice, if going to 37's.

Toyo's are one of the heaviest tires out there. BFG is E rated as well.
