Ok, so it was at Toyota’s HQ lobby in Plano.
Was on their campus all day today, it’s no often they put vehicles of this caliber on display.

2000GT’s eclipsed the million $$ mark a few years back…just a beautiful (and tiny!) car.

The LFA is pretty special, and special to me because it was a Lexus launch that I was most-intimately involved with.

Not typical for my ad career, but I was on the creative team that came up with this concept, then I was key in bringing it to life because dynos and physics aren’t exactly agency core competencies LOL

Great looking cars.

Nice it of history below.

In a parallel universe, it was a BRE-liveried 2000GT, perhaps with an SCCA trophy sitting in the passenger compartment, that set the sales record at Amelia last week. In this one, however, a last-minute sales pitch by Shelby —made in-person in Japan—was enough to convince Toyota to switch racing teams. After all, Shelby had just helped Ford beat Ferrari. Who better to help Toyota go to war with Porsche?

A little video I shot with my phone while visiting Peter Brock.

An old budy of mine designed the Lexus Logo a long long time ago. You probably weren't around at the time or still in diapers. Roland Sanders. aka Molly.

I’ve been working with the brand since 1995…interesting stories around how the brand was started, and the logo was a big part of the lore.

But yea, I graduated high school in 89 LOL

I've only seen the resemblance of the 365 gtb. I guess I better look past my nose a bit more often to see what others might be seeing. I still don't see Jag though.

Besides the long hood and in-line-6, which dictates the basic styling cues, the exhaust is the one thing that really ties the 200GT and E-Type together in my mind.

I met Molly in 77 or so when he designed the paint job on a Friends van. This was a few years after his gig at Yamaha and a long time after AEE Choppers.

Even though I owned a '72 E Roadster V-12 they have never been a favorite car of mine. I should have kept it though. The Toyota 2000 is just a great looking car. Thanks for posting the pix!

It’s so strange because on the surface, who wouldn’t want a V12 roadster?

But evidently the Inline-6 is the one to get.
And definitely finicky cars all around.

That rings a bell. I think Molly did the graphics on our Toyota race cars in the 90's.

I got a friend a job with Molly when he was in SantaAna on Ritchey st. They were working with Toyota at the time. Here's some classic yet simple examples of his work.

Peter also penned the Corvette stingray in '57 while working for GM

A client of my brother at one time, his 2012 LFA Nurburgring was auctioned at BJ in 2019. Original owner who purchased it at Lexus Bakersfield. One of only 3 black (212) Nurburgring ones in USA.

Those cars are so cool. If I had stupid money it’d be hard not to road course it regularly.

Your experiences through employer(s) are top-notch. With my employer, if you’re not top brass or top sales levels, you get jack squat. Are you one of those or just dialed in with the right team?

They call the LFAs Lexus’ forgotten supercar. Maybe because Lexus/Toyota had all these requirements to purchase one, then if you passed that you had to then qualify a review process. A lot of people said F that, I’ll just buy a Ferrari or Lambo instead.

Honestly I’m a nobody, just a cog in the wheel.
We have a great team on this piece of business…

I’m basically a car stereo salesman, but I’m having fun with it.
