I went yesterday to Rancho Mirage Bentley yesterday. Drove 2 hours there just to find all the dealerships closed,chain link fenced and all the vehicles moved out of the showrooms and vehicles in front moved to the rear. They had security guards inside the showrooms,on the lots and outside on sidewalks and on the street patrolling in golfcarts.
The police on every corner and a helicopter patrolling. Half the business on the street were boarded up.....banks,liquor stores, furniture stores,tattoo shops, etc.
Talked to a couple of cops and security and was told a protest was starting at a park down the street.
I have not heard anything today so I am not sure if there was any violence?
With this said I wonder what discount Toyota would offer on that Supra as is, they have those things marked up or at least a few months ago they did.

Front door/windows alone will be well beyond half that cost. And every repaired vehicle will now require a disclosure when sold(aka devalued). Let alone the damage to furnishings, scattered files(with perhaps sensitive info), yada, yada.

Most dealers have high deductibles, around 5k a unit. Not only the original loss, but the depreciation in the value of a repaired vehicle make it pretty fucking serious. In my book a good enough reason for any vandals to be put down.

My talking points are noted in this thread. I understand the dealer was vandalized, but have yet to see or hear any evidence of car theft. I tend to follow the money and do not believe for one minute this is a random act of violence just like I do not believe this theft was not planned.

Regarding my view that a punk did it... a punk to me could be middle aged / old / young / Chinese/ black white / etc.

A punk is a disrespectful, rude, or otherwise unpleasant person.

Here is another definition -

To me anybody that does that to a dealership is a punk.

My view would be that a “staged” event would be something that is being faked - this looks like real damage was done to me.

On the other hand, I would also agree that there is a source that creates an environment for misguided people that may otherwise be outcasts of society to feel like they belong to some meaningful cause. These people are manipulated into thinking they are doing damage to others for a good cause and the means justify the end.

They are deeply wrong however.
