For those who’ve done transom mounted led lights, most I’ve seen are further out (green) but curious about going closer in (red) to the drive. Mainly thinking closer will look better when on trailer 🤦🏼‍♂️ because these lights are black. But they are permanent so i really want to be sure where and which location.

The wider they are the more area they cover. If you are not worried about covering a wide area and just want it bright right behind the boat put them closer.

See that’s my exact hunch but........... seems all I’ve seen are way out. Wish this shit wasn’t so permanent. Hmm guess Pedro could always fix it if i don’t like it 🤣🤣🤣

I can’t see dropping $566 on one of those lights, I have a couple of the drain plug deals and they work great for $200 for both

I have led lights in my drain plug using a brass Y and turn them on and off with a remote work awesome and didn't have to punch holes in the boat.

Glad you ask, I want to know also as I am getting ready to add them.
Looks like I’m going centered between the low of the tunnel and the exhaust and centered in width to exhaust. Got it all sharpied out. Talked to Headless about some fine tuning so may cut and resin tomorrow.
Come on over you can help.

Here is a pic of where ours are mounted ...

And here is the spread from the lights in use - I like the way they light and feel like they are positioned well for us and our boat.

Ours are positioned lower than your green and spread apart more than your red - they are mounted towards the bottom / lower edge of each sponson.

Wife said we have a blue shark one also. They don’t fit our idiots so rather give to someone that can use them.

BTW, I’ll take those idiots off your hands, black female and then thelittle hyper gray guy, you just get smaller dogs to fit the vests. Problem solved. 😂🤣

2 1/2 hours to mark out and get both sides exactly where i wanted and equal to each other. Got drill all ready to go...... let’s look inside real quick 🤦🏼Yep would’ve been straight into the stringer. So i can go higher or towards center of boat, but think that’ll look wack and just not ok as will be far from centered to exhaust so now looking at either outer edge of the relief at same height or, into the lower of the outer pods. 🤬🥴

I have a really hard time drilling holes in my boat, especially below the water line!!! Do they look cool, yes, have you ever had to grind out the rotted wood from the transom to replace? I have, and it's a memory i can't let go of, so i'm not going to be as cool as i could be

That's ok Mcob25rg we have meetings the third wednesday of every month discussing this very issue 😉 it helped me get through drilling holes in Hull Transoms, Bottoms and RV Roof's you will be ok and I've been worry free for some time now, sometimes you just have to let it go 13 times and you'll be fine 🤪

Note: I'll be drilling a 3/4 hole in the bilge tomorrow morning for a washdown 🙃 and too date I have zero leaks 😀

See you soon.

Thanks Bill

If you want any tips on how to install, you might spend ten minutes and read the new article on RDP's homepage, "Let There Be Light" -- should answer any questions and lots of pictures.

Curious if anyone has these? Pros n cons of?
I actually do. I have 3 of them in red on a 3way spreader on the back of my 35pc.

Super easy to install, very affordable, great quality, pretty descent brightness as well considering they are about the size of a champaign cork, 1200lumens each. Mine have been underwater for 2 years with no issues.

Only con is they are not flush mounted and stick out about 1.5-2inches

I have them, cheap simple and no switch to wire, no holes in your boat, they have a wireless remote, just connect to your battery and your good to go. I used just one in the center sponson drain on this boat, could go with three but one was fine.

I have looked at these online a few times now, I was concerned with longevity and the rest sounds great.

That appears pretty bright for just one and like the no holes drilled and wireless remote. I see you went with red also, guessing blue causes a PD panic?

Boat was red, and yeah too much drama with running with them on here so they are only when parked, in that case may as well color coordinate

This was one I used in the red boat, I’ve bought their cheaper typhon model as well and used two, one in each sponson, I tried this one this time and it worked fine, simpler with just the one
