@rivermobster @monkeyswrench or others

I need some inmate help with an electrical gremlin.
2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLT

Seat Heaters – Driver and Passenger affected.
When pressing the seat heater button, the light comes on but goes out immediately after releasing. This is the same with both the driver and passenger seats.

Verified no fuses blown, didn’t see any obvious issues or pinched wires behind the door panels. Still looking for loose wires, etc. and verified the yellow connector to the controller box under the driver’s seat was tight and no corrosion present on any terminals.
Any ideas come to mind?

Thanks in advance!
Tom

Usually driver side takes a dump, because always a a driver. Not usually both though. If you find which wires are the feeds for the heaters, do a continuity test. If no continuity, the element has a break in it. That's the most common on "older" cars.

You possibly have to reset the control module by unplugging it for a bit...
See if these how to videos helps you out at all as a guide,

I'm not a Chebby guy. Id just be guessing.

Kevin gave you the best info. Check the actual element first. 👍🏼

Those have the option to heat the back only or the back and cushion together. Try selecting back heat only and see if it acts any differently. Quick way to narrow down which element circuit is affected.

I have a (I think it is a 2012) Lincoln MKZ that I have been to lazy to research that has a similar issue, no heat, no cool, driver and passenger....
I am curious if it is a common issue but I haven't been curious enough to do a search. lol

Replace the elements. My 06 did the same thing and that fixed it. I did all the checking of modules and wires. It would also kick off the passenger seat if the drivers heater was turned on. Easy fix too.

I Had a 04 Tahoe that this happened too, and the wife was dead set on having it repaired, and it did the same thing was told the element in the seat went bad they wouldn't get warm at all. However, the cost was astronomical, so I checked online and found the elements for a reasonable amount and bought them but never installed them gave the vehicle to my kid and they never got installed.

If you need to pull the seats, swing by Harbor Freight and pick up an E16 and an E18 socket. (External Torx) to remove the bolts.

As Monkey said, its almost always an open element. Replaced lots of them. Especially bottom-drivers.

As the others have said, it’s usually one or both of the elements are bad or the control module on the door

Thanks. Cushion and backs on both seats have same issue. Will dig into it soon.
Greatly appreciate everyone's input.
Kind regards.
