My business has 85 open positions. Hourly positions starting at $15. All different types of work and shifts. We don’t have the application flow to fill them. People in this pay range don’t want to work. This unemployment bullshit needs to be cut off. God damn government tit. There are plenty of jobs out there.

For the people on here with available jobs and trying to hire, what are you experiencing?

No real issue with higher level salaried positions. We’ve picked up a few great hires on that level.

We are a small company and most make $40+/hr + benefits. Have a couple that have not worked since the beginning of the year because there happy as shit on the enhanced UE benefits. Each making $2800 a month UE plus stimulus checks. Looking for there replacements now.

Why would they work when unemployment is paying them more 😂

That’s why it needs to be turned off. Wasn’t the purpose because there’s not enough jobs? That’s complete bullshit. Every business owner I network with has more openings than they can fill.

If my recruitment team could get the flow I’d let my sales team mash the throttle on growth. I could triple our size in 12 months if we knew we could fill positions. Sucks.

Why any business would want anyone who would work for $15/hour baffles me.

Find someone that’s worth 25+, pay them that or more, and they’ll get twice as much done with half the fuckups, being a better value in the end.

I’m not on the west coast. I’m in an area where that’s a good entry wage starting job. It’s not a career position. It could certainly lead to one.

Do you have a business and employees? With that comment I’m assuming the answer is no. There are all different levels needed in a business. What I started and continue to operate provides jobs for people starting out all the way up to long term careers. That’s a lot of people/families.

You’re free to start your own business and pay people more than they’re experience justifies. Or have higher talent in a position they are overqualified for which doesn’t end well either. But let us know how it goes if you do.

I would post an ad pre-covid, and get say 30-40 people wanting jobs, now it's like may be 1 or 2. $20-$25 per hour to ride around taking photos of cheating husbands and wives. I've slowed advertising way down, as I don't have the help to handle the work. Hopefully the free money stops soon.

Libs are making leaches out of Americans while the ones that work hard are portrayed as evil and should be taxed to death in order to give it to the underprivileged.

The great reset and dismantling of the American way of life. Socialism creeps in over time then happens all at once.

Unfortunatley posting an employment ad these days is setting yourself up for failure.

cannot find anyone either. Hired a guy to train to take orders and ship them. Worked 3 full days and 2 half days then asked if he gets sick pay. That was the end of him.

Not even trying to hire anyone else as it’s worthless. The likely hood that someone you just hired slips and falls is much greater now. I’ll wait to the government cheese is over.

ha ha ha. Your funny, you think these days paying someone 2x the position makes them work harder. Lol.

not all positions make $25hr.

you reward the employee who performfirst not the other way around.

For you employers, are you the business owner reading through the applicants and resumes or do you have an HR department doing the hiring? As an employee I had a hell of a time just getting a call and even applied at $12/hr. jobs but nothing. Only thing I could think of is my resume wasn't written fancy enough to get past a HR person that is evaluating my resume on how it's written rather than whats written on it.

You've got enough experience to make 83k a year as a cement finisher or 90k as a carpenter or 100k a year as an equipment operator for the City of Los Angeles

I was paying some guy 33 an hour but he wanted more after just 2 months. No skill required in construction general labor. Good luck as most kids now are worthless since they can live at home and rely on government monies.

Nope. The extended EU is to indoctrinate the Sheeple into Socialism. Just ask Jao and Kamalhoe. Nobody will want to work for $15 per hour after living on government handouts for 1.5 years.

On a serious note. It’s going to be hard to find any applicants worth their weight in SoCal for $15 per hour. I don’t think you could rent a room and feed yourself after you paid taxes on that wage. Most fast food joints are paying $15-$18 these days. Good Luck in your search

there is an expectation with every wage. If the direct superior feels they are not cutting it then we make sure they know what they are doing. Then if that doesn’t work then we let them go.

Good thing our turn over is low

I have an HR / recruiter handling it. It’s been several years since I was looking at resumes or applications. My advice is keep it simple. Nothing “fancy”. To the point on one page.

Did you follow up? Or were you waiting on a call? There were times I would wait for the person to call in to check the status. It implied they wanted the job. This was 7+ years ago which was very different. Either way, don’t wait for the call. Find out if they want you or not.

I am down 5 people from my peak. I have run adds and even word of mouth. Can't find anyone that wants to work. I had a 30 yo guy come in and tell me its his dream job and he will do anything to work.. He lasted a day and a half. Then he has the balls to tell me to fire him and I dont need to pay him so he can go get back on unemployment. Fucking people. Had another guy. Resume looked great. Emailed, text and called him. After about a week I text him again asking if he was still looking for work. He called we talked and he was supposed to come by. Never showed. This country is doomed at this rate.

I’ve tried paying guys all the way up to $35. Guys seem to flame out 6 months to a year.

I need to train someone from the ground up. So they can get good enough and go out on their own lol.

Been there done that. Over paid and under deliver. Thats part of my problem. Come show me you can do it and I will gladly pay.

That’s what people don’t understand.

If you bring value to a business, then you’re worth the high cost of labor. And the company will be loyal to you, because they want you to stay.

Commission or piece work....
Use to be standard in most industries...

Times have changed....

When I sold my business... I had 7 employees over 20 years of employment... 4 over 30 years...

Take care of your employees and they inturn will take care of you...

Good luck

We are going through same thing out in Texas no one wants to work. This country is in trouble when everywhere you look there is work but government keeps giving money out. And you guys saying pay more have no idea what your talking about go collect your paycheck you have no idea what it takes to run a company.

There is a McDonalds here offering $20 an hour to start. They got about 200 applications, but no one showed for an interview. (They have to put in applications to show they are looking for unemployment) Now they are offering $50 just to show up for an interview.

About 15 years ago, a hot rod shop wanted to talk with me. Sat down with the boss man, discussed their needs, and my abilities. When it came down to the number, I honestly laughed at him. "Well, everyone here starts at minimum wage for the first couple months. That way we can see what they're capable of."
At the time, I believe minimum was 8$ an hour. I had a young one, and a house payment.
"For minimum wage, I can sweep the floors like nobody's business. I thank you for your time."
On my way out of the shop, I asked him why the 34 3wdw had one 33 door, and one 34...it was in primer already

I went back to the old standby of swinging a hammer. Was harder work, but my kids always had food and a lid;)
