You're swapping the drive also right? An X won't live long behind a 525 in a 27.
Gonna baby for one season and then swap out the gear set or replace. I never slam the throttle hard, and steady higher speeds is not where they usually break. Theoretically, the load on the drive at the same speed will be similar. Our issue is primarily higher speed cruising. I was kind of limited to 50ish without pegging it. She is an honest 60 MPH boat with the 425, I wont run her much above that ever. Just going up 2 inches in pitch to start and that may be it. That's less than a 10% increase in torque required to swing it.
Possibility. I can pull the drive anytime and swap myself. May buy one and then build a spare. Was thinking ITS even at one point, but I don't like the prop behind the swimstep. Grandkids someday will be jumping off of there.
Looks like you don't external steering right? ITS is a great option that works very well on 27's. 7 inch set back. GT has a sweet extended swim step.

They're rated at 4600 - 5000... If yours is an HO you're under as long as the tach is right. I think the rev limiter is at 5250.

If I read this right, the answer is trim higher, unload shit, or pitch down. Pick any or all of them and see what happens...
