Wife and I are making a turnaround trip to Vegas tonight. Neither is a big gambler, she loves nickle slots and I fart around on the low dollar craps and blackjack tables if I do gamble. We haven't been to Vegas in probably 15 years. Staying at the New York, any ideas?

There are a ton of great Cirque shows. Love (Beatles) is great.

If you want to see any shows but your tickets using the links on this website. http://smartervegas.com/shows.aspx

I was just in Vegas and we went to "KA" at the MGM. It was a great show.

They have "Zumanity" at NYNY which is an "adult" themed Cirque Du Soleil show. It is really funny and has topless girls doing acrobatic things. I've been to it and it's a good show also.

There are other shows like "O" at Bellagio and "La Reve" at the Wynn. Those are "high" dollar tickets if you're looking for the best shows on the strip.

The highlight of all my most recent Vegas trips has been a great dinner. The MGM has more haute cuisine than you can shake a stick at and is right across the street. Spectacular meals that take 3 to 4 hours.

Peep show was good. You can see what show specials your hotel has. Go to fremont st. and watch all the crazy people.

What are you looking to do?

Sit at my house and relax. But she has insisted we do "something" this weekend. LOL I prefer to spend my money on boating, but the weather sux, so I'd rather not do the boating thing.

You can also drive over to Pawn Stars and Counts Kustoms.

Overnight, on a Monday night. A few of the shows mentioned are 'dark' on Monday's further limiting the selection.

Take her to dinner on top of the Strastophere? It revolves over the city several times an hour.

Or run her across the highway and have a few drinks at the Voodoo lounge on top of the Rio. great views at night. :tbi

Dont forget breakfast at the Peppermill. Down by Encore. On the strip. Old School Vegas food.

Or eat with the Cosa Nostra at Piero's - near the convention center. always an interesting visit.:eek

Stay someplace other than that shithole New York.......? With all the good places around why stay at a place that is over 20 years old? You might as well stay at that broken down old pyramid place.......

Snap pictures of my car in front of my favorite muffler shop.

:D I think that's been done. :D

Go downtown and try Binion's Steakhouse on the top of Binion's Casino on Fremont St. It's old school and very good food.
Enjoy
Greg

Also 'The Gun Store' is fun and has every kind of automatic and semi-auto weapon you can imagine for rent.

If you want to do a trip about an hour or so north of town Valley of Fire is a nice place to see. A little bit closer try Red Rock Canyon and go feed the donkeys

You could take her to Town Square just south of the strip (15 and 215 interchange.) Nice little walk around/check it out/eat dinner type place. Several restaurants, movie theater, shopping etc. Last night happened to be in the flight path of incoming to McCarren also...sat at Blue Martini watching planes fly overhead, close enough to read the DOT #'s on the tires

Hey now, a jacuzzi room on the top floors at the Luxor is lots of fun. The jacuzzi sits right against the sloping glass. Spent a great anniversary there a few years back. :D

Expensive steak dinner, SW in the Wynn. Get the crock of death, aka au gratin.

Less expensive steak dinner that is really good and not known well by tourists, go to the dump Circus Circus and eat at, what else, "The Steak House". Great food.

Best value dinner in Vegas, South Point Silverado steakhouse or pasta joint (Don Vitos). Fillet for about $30, salad mixed at table, cream corn for another $6. Always a bottle of wine special for $20. Can't beat it. Next time book through Marriott the Cosmo Sunday-Thursday from about $120. get the 1 bedroom suite with the japanese tub and view of Bellagio fountain. A bottle of bubbly.....

Just plan on heading back to Cali early Sunday or Monday bye at least 10am. The traffic is a nightmare going back on holiday weekends. I work just past stateline and it takes 2 hrs to go 40 miles.

Thanks for all the feedback, wifey wasn't really sold on any of the shows that were available on a Monday night. We wandered the strip for a couple of hours, ate at Bubba Gump's (her idea, not mine) and ended up seeing a couple of comedians at the Laugh Factory. Not a bad way to spend a night.

Did the Peppermill, great breakfast, thanks for the tip!

I've stayed in worse, but all in all it wasn't spectacular. 2 light bulbs out in the room, no bath mat for the shower, no hand towels, no wash cloths. Nice view though. I kinda forgot how old the place is, it was brand new last time I was out there :D. It was a spur of the moment trip, I searched 4 star hotels and went with an inexpensive place. 20 years from now when I go again, I'll chose more carefully.

If I were out there an extra day, I would liked to have done this.
His wife feeds an ass 7 days a week. Not sure feeding other asses is high on her vacation choices. :p

That looks like a pretty cool room. Wish I would have put this thread out a couple of days ago.

We swung by the place where it all started 20 years ago...
